I've read through a bunch of posts about Klonopin (generic is Clonazepam) but they are not too recent so I'm not sure whose still on the boards. I have some pills that were given to me by my regular physician last year to use in the interim while I was waiting for my Lexapro to kick in. The amount is small I believe (.5 mg) tablet or maybe it's 1 mg tablet but the directions say to just take 1/2 tablet every 8 hours as needed. I have only taken about 3 pills total in the last year b/c I figured they were addicting, but honestly, I took one yesterday during a panic attack (about d...I didn't even have d) and it really helped. I don't want to become addicted to this or any drug for that matter, but does anyone out there take this on a more regular basis for anxiety/panic attacks? I have no refills...just about 6 pills or so left but I'm thinking of seein my doc soon to discuss the panic attacks. (I've also finally broken down and decided to order the hypno-tapes. What have I got to lose?) So please respond if anyone takes the clonazepam (or something similar) and how much? I would only want to take it prior to anxiety provoking situations (which with IBS-d could be pretty frequent though!) Thanks

To answer both your questions, I don't know about these being anifungals...they are listed as drugs for epileptic seizures or for panic attacks. And no, I have been off the Lexapro for about 6 months now. I took one the other day, thinking I'd want to try going back on, but I got d and now I'm going to wait until my gut calms down before I try it again. But see, even with the Lexapro before, it helped with some day-to-day anxiety but not with panic attacks when things were really bad.

I take Klonopin. Have been for about 3 or 4 years, maybe. I take 1.5mg (3 tablets) every day. Never heard to take them as needed. I was told to take them everyday.
I don't know if they help or not...but they do help me sleep, which, in turn, helps everything.
I worry about dependence and the withdrawal symptoms if I ever do go off of them. But for now, I take them for any benefit they may be giving me.
