It appears that anytime, no matter how safe the cereal is, when I have dry cereal with water, it gives me a reaction.
It causes bloating and what feels like more trapped gas.
Why?
Is it the water?
Is cereal bad even with low fat and no bad ingredients, is it just something like bagels which cause internal gas?
Thanks.

I do not have a concrete answer for you.

I personally do not tolerate processed foods like most cereals well & avoid them. Perhaps you do not tolerate processed foods very well & therefore have an undesirable reaction to them. The only dry cereal I seem to tolerate is organic puffed rice and puffed quinoa. I generally eat quinoa flakes (kind of like porridge) when I eat cereal.

Not everyone can tolerate every food. If you continually experience gas and bloating and discomfort with dry cereal than eliminate it from your diet or try something unprocessed that is IBS-safe. Cereal is one of many IBS options for breakfast (or other meals/snacks). Consider looking beyond "the box."
