I've been suffering today with this horrible lower back pain. It's not typical lower back pain(like cramps or labor) it's deep and painful when I move just the wrong way. It feels like a lot of pressure on my lower bowel or something like that. I had a bm this morning but still feel like it wasn't complete.
Has anyone ever had this kind of pain before? I'm IBS-C btw.

THANKS so much for any input!

I have definitely had lower back pain associated with C, so I know what you are talking about! Do you take anything for C, or just use diet to "control" it?

Hi Lisa Maria,

I was taking Zelnorm but I didn't feel like it was doing much. I stopped taking it about a week ago and I'm wondering if that's why I'm having such bad lower back pain. It might be that I added to much ISF back in to my diet. I'm feeling a little better than I was but still hurting enough to make yet another appointment with my doctor.

What do you do take etc. to help your IBS-C

THANKS

Renee

Hi Renee,

I'm taking several things: acacia (~3 teaspoons daily), probiotics, digestive enzymes... but the miracle "cure" has been Natural Calm, which is a magnesium citrate supplement. It does wonders for C and is way more gentle than milk of magnesia, which I used to rely heavily on. I take it every night and have a BM every morning! I'm also on about day 60 of the IBS hypnotherapy program. I think that's been a huge help to me as well.

What all are you taking now that you're off the Zelnorm?

Hi Lisa Maria,

Your post has given me a ton of hope because I just bought Natural Calm last night! I finally found it at my health food store. I thought wow what a coincidence! I haven't been taking anything prescribed since the zelnorm I'm just been taking Citracel, Probiotics and digestive enzeymes.

How much of the Natural Calm do you take and at what time of day? I started with a tsp last night and it's helped a bit but tonight I think I'll take 1 1/2 tsp. and see what happens.

That's exactly how I started! Definitely take it at night; I find that it helps me sleep. Keep increasing by 1/2 teaspoon or so every couple of days until you get the right stool consistency. Once you hit D, step back a bit.

Good luck!! This stuff has REALLY helped me.
