Heather lists Boca Burgers as a safe meat alternative, but when I looked up the indredients, it has cheese as its third listed, plus many other dairy-looking type things. This was just for the original "meat-less" burgers. Is there another one that I'm supposed to be looking for? Also, prior to finding this site, I had been eating Amy's California veggie burgers...I love them. Please tell me if you think they are IBS-safe (has some wheat...safe enough to try as an IF?) Here's the ingredient list with O standing for organic: o mushrooms, o onions, o bulger wheat, o celery, o carrots, o oats, o walnuts, wheat gluten, o potatoes, sea salt, expeller pressed high oliec safflower oil, o garlic.

All Boca burgers and Amys all have different ingredients. My son is a vegan and he taught me to read everything. They even list egg whites as an ingredient and thats not vegan. You really have to read each and every flavor.

It depends on which Boca Burger you look at. The ingredients (below) for the "original Boca Burger" don't contain milk products.

Ingredients: WATER, SOY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, WHEAT GLUTEN, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF METHYLCELLULOSE, SALT, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, DRIED ONIONS, MALTODEXTRIN, YEAST EXTRACT, SESAME OIL, DEFATTED WHEAT GERM, HYDROLYZED PROTEIN (CORN AND SOY) AND HYDROLYZED WHEAT GLUTEN, CARAMEL COLOR, SOY SAUCE (WATER, SOYBEANS, WHEAT, SALT), AUTOLYZED YEAST EXTRACT, DISODIUM GUANYLATE, DISODIUM INOSINATE, SUCCINIC ACID

On the other hand anything containing soy can bad news for some IBS suffers.

Thank you both. I guess the one I found online must have been a different kind. So considering the wheat and wheat gluten, would I consider this an IF and eat it safely with a white bun? Or it would only raise a flag if it said whole wheat? I'm still figuring out how much wheat I can tolerate.

I find the original Boca Burgers easy to tolerate. I also have success with Morningstar Grillers (I think dairy free.) My ultimate favorite, although it does have some dairy are the The Gardenburgers.(original) I know some IBSers cannot tolerate any dairy...however minimal. Amy's Burritos are tasty too...there are some with no dairy. They are a quick fix when you are super hungry and no time.

Yes, the original and garden burger varieties don't have dairy, american and the likes do.

The garden variety are very good.

i have eaten the amy's california burgers for years, they agree with me fine, smae with the texas burgers, but if you are sensitive to soy stay away from the texas burgers, interestingly enough the california burgers are one of the few burgers available that are soy free.

I have eaten boca soy burgers and boca garlic burgers (or something like that). Both were fine with my tummy, but they both left MUCH to be desired in the taste department! I haven't tried Amy's burgers before, but I love Amy's frozen tofu veggie lasagna - YUM!! (be sure you get the tofu veggie, because the regular veggie lasagna has dairy).

In the burger department, the best BY FAR is GardenBurger Flame Grilled soy burgers. It is the best I have found, and I drive 30 minutes from home just to stock up on them. They are a staple in my diet! I have tried the other GB soy burger (home style or something) and it was okay... better than boca, but not nearly as good as GB flame grilled.
