Natural Nut Butters

I bought some and it has some oil just sitting on top. Maybe 1/2 inch? I'm sure you guys all know what I mean.

It wasn't added to the nut butter. The ingredients only list almonds as the ingredient...so I guess this settled on top.

Should I mix it into the butter or dump it out? Does dumping it out make it "safer"? Does dumping it still allow you to spread the butter?

What do you guys usually do?

Thanks

the oil separates naturally from the rest. the directions should tell you to mix it. it's fine. you'll have to mix it every time before using it. make sure you keep the jar refrigerated or it can spoil.

Thanks. Yes, the directions say to mix it all in and then refrigerate, but I was just wondering if it might be safer to just dump the oil....since the directions were intended for "normal" functioning bodies!

You still think I should keep all the oil?

i seem to do okay with the oil in it. i'm not sure how the butter would be consistency-wise without it, but i'm sure you could at least dump some of the oil if you're worried about it. i wish i could be more helpful..

i always blot the oil mostly off the top with a paper towel, the butter mixes fine without it and you get less oil in you.

Well I'm not into natural. Thats one food I seem fine with is pb regular . You can though pour it off the top and it is pretty much the same or just stir it in. Then put in fridge.

Dumped half the oil. It still seems "oily" but my doctor thinks the fat will help with the C.

I know my nutritionist said you need a certain amount to lubricate. Really though I think dumping some of the oil isn't going to take away that much of the fat.

Your doctor said fat will HELP with C??? Huh?? I thought one of the reasons we eat a low-fat diet is because fat slows down your GI tract. I don't know about you, but I want mine moving as quickly as possible!
