I saw some "Parkay Spread Light" in the butter section of the grocery store. Is it ok for us that have IBS to use this? I have tried several other kinds and am not sure which would be the best one. This one seemed to have less saturated fat than some of the others.

It probably contains dairy; check the ingredients. The most highly recommended IBS butter/margarine seems to be Smart Balance LIGHT - and make sure you get the LIGHT variety. The non-light version contains dairy.

There is also a margarine spread made from olive oil - I think Parkay makes it. It seems to be OK with me, but check the ingredients. It's hard to find, though. The "Woodman's" store 10 miles from me always has it; the "Jewel/Albertson's" down the road had it for about a month, then stopped.

Anything with milk, milk ingredients, whey, or casin should be avoided.
