Do most C people drink in a day...including tea? Does this include the water if you put your SFS in it? The Acacia seems to be making worse C....but maybe I'm not drinking enough??

Just a rough estimate would be helpful.

Thanks.

Lots! I start off the day with a full glass of soy milk or juice. I drink water constantly throughout the day. I drink extra water after I eat to help with the digestion. That's not counting the tea. When I'm physically active, I drink even more. Seems like a lot, but trust me, it helps. If it appears you're going to the restroom often, no worries; let your kidneys do their job to clean your blood.

i drink about 2.5 litres a day, the acacia didn't make me go, it made me stable enough to start adding in the IF, thats what made me go. the flax seed meal is great for that.

I'm not C, but I drink anywhere for 8 to 12 cups of liquid everyday - tea at work 2 to 3 cups, plus almost a litre of water (4 cups), then at home 2 to 3 huge glasses of juice in the evening, and maybe another cup of tea. My tea "cup" holds 1 3/4 cups of liquid.

i eat a ton of IF, if i listed my daily diet you might be shocked, but i am against sugar and any kind of white grains, they make me feel sluggish and yucky, if you want a day in the life idea i can give you an example, but be sure that i am not suggesting that you eat like i do, as i have my reasons for using some of heathers suggestions and not others. I am also basically a vegan, the part that doesn't fit is that i eat fish to get extra protein and to hep me gain weight. but no dairy, eggs or meat for me.

Honestly, if I could see what tweaking works for others, maybe it might help me. So far, doing the diet as is, isn't helping. I don't "think" I am getting enough IF...I'm not sure I get enough fat, and too many of the white products give me C. This is me, personally...

Go ahead and shock me! I need some tweaking!

It would be helpful to know how you prepare the foods too...like blending, peeling, etc.

Six to eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily basis PLUS the amount of water needed to dissolve the SF as directed on the package.

This does not include the water that is contained in the foods I eat most of which contain a significant amount of water too.

I honestly think I'm the person that drinks the most water in earth. I drink at least seven 25oz glasses of water a day!!!!! It takes that much to help me with C and incomplete evacuation.

Blessings,
Abi

probiotic when i first get up

breakfast is 3/4 cup nutty rice/nutty flax/oatmilletrice flakes (1 of the 3 rotated each morning) + banana or mango + rice or almond milk + hemp seeds + acacia (3 tsp)

then i take my multi, fish oils, magnesium, digestive enzymes and my medication.

Morning snack is a nectarine or 2 kiwis or a pear or berries, non peeled with a tbsp almond butter + a digestive enzyme

l-glutamine

Lunch is either a ... +digestive enzymes and iron pill

1> WW pita with hummus or beans or veggie pate, + cucumber + red pepper+ radish + carrot + spinach + hemp seeds or sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds.

2> Smoked tofu on sourdough spelt bread with mustard and the same veggies as above.

3> Grain or noodle cold salad with mixture of above veggies with either pasrley or celery added and beans and seeds too.

etc

second probiotic

Afternoon snack is usually 2-3 carrots with sun seedws or pumpkin seeds or hemp seeds of butters from the same seeds, but it is hard to find raw buitters. or a cherry pie larabar made from dates, almonds and cherries (can give me gas but i love them, i also make my own versions at home) or other bars i bake at home using oats as a base. + digestive enzymes

Dinner is .... + digestive enzymes + magnesium

1> salmon, bean or veggie burger which i make from scratch + roated potatoes + broccoli, and spinach

2> baked sweet potato + beans + seeds + any combo of peas, broccoli, zucchini, peppers, corn only somrtimes, butternut squash etc

3> tofu stirfry + snowpeas, butternut, brocco, watercress, carrots, peppers etc with braggs

4> kamut spirals + any of the aboe mentioned veggies with a vinegretter sauce or no cheese pesto or carrot beet sauce.

5> casserole of beans, grains, veggies, seeds of some sort.

6> Salmon, halibut or mahi mahi with combo of above veggies in vinegrette

7)WW pita veggies pizza with eggplants, olives, peppers, squash etc using pesto or carrot beet sauce and no cheese of course.

last probiotic

Evening snack... + digestive enzymes
Oatmeal + blueberries or raspberries + walnuts
rice cakes + bluberries or raspberries + walnuts
+ acacia ( 3 tsp)

L-glutamine

all right that was long, that is my typical menu that i rotate through, it quite limited as i am just startingto incorporate new recipes as i get more and more stable.
the supplements help alot and so do the meds that keep my anxiety and ocd about food and germs in check. I just reintroduced fish into my diet, beifre i was vegan for a year, but got waaay to skinny and felt weak. So there it is, like i said i don't recommend anyone here try my diet, it is veeery high in IF and could really hurt someone with D.
In general i only eat whole foods and avoid sugar and white bread like the plague. thats all for me for now, enjoy

Before i comment, remember that my previous post says that i do not advocate my posted diet as the EFI diet, it would be waaay to hard to handle for most ibs'ers.

ultra flora looks good, metagenics is a very good brand, my best success has come with slowly building up to 3 primal defense caplets a day or all flora by new chapter. you want lots of strains and to take them more than once a day, the primal defense is really amazing for me, i don't like the other products by that company but the primal has been amazing. Also get some digestive enzymes, strong ones and that helps too.

You win, Abigail!!! I was reading through Heather's 5 myths of constipation and it recommended up to 16 glass a day. I am way under that. I just hate to drink....it makes it hard to get the food in when you drink so much.

You eat healthier than anyone I know! That's fantastic, Miso.

To clarify, doesn't the morning banana constipate you?

The carageenan in the "milk" doesn't bother you? I am afraid of it.

I see you take hemp seeds instead of flax. Is there a difference? Do hemp seeds help with C better, ya think? Can you take both at the same time or is that too much fat?

Your lunch veggies....are those raw cucumbers, peppers, radishes, carrots and spinach?
Is your afternoon snack raw carrots or cooked?

Do you find bags of these veggies mixed togeher? Or do you have to buy the fresh of each separate and mix them altogether?

I always thought seeds and nuts were gassy. I would love to be able to eat pumpkin seeds again! And sunflower seeds, but they scare me!

Finally, I notice you take your digestive enzyme after you eat. I thought we were suppose to take it before meals....or don't you think it matters?

Oh, how many mg of magnesium do you take? Is it the citrate form? I need to take calcium, unfortunately, which tends to constipate me.

Can you do citrus fruits, like oranges?

Sorry so many questions. The main point I've learned is that I do not eat enough IF!!!! Either in the form of fruits/veggies nor in grains, like millet or amaranth. Plus, I peel all fruits and veggies.

I need to get bave and try this way...more IF!!! Thank you! Can you come cook for me?

To clarify, doesn't the morning banana constipate you?

Nope no constipation from bananas, i just love them, i only eat one a day though on the days that i do eat them, i try and rotate things as much as possible.}

Carageneenan seems to be fine for me, soy milk i dislike the taste of and generally try and limit my soy in my diet, plus it has a yucky aftertaste.

The hemp seeds i use for extra protein at breakfast, not for constipation, the flax will help much more for constipation, you could use both, but you would have to see how your body reacts to the fat.

All of my lunch veggeies are raw, i don't really like cooked food during the day, just doesn't appeal to me, these veggies i have found safe as long as i take my digestive enzymes.

they are all seperate and fresh and mostly organic.

seeds and nuts can be very gassy, but i chew them slowly and well and take my enzymes and i do fine, nuts are harder to digest than seeds, and the easiest way is to get pumpkin seed, sunflower seed or almond butter, so its pre-ground for you.

I always take them before i eat, i just put them in the wrong place when i typed.

i take magnesium , potassium aspartates, which is a really absorbable form, i take 4 caps a day divided in 2 doses, because of the type of mag it winds up as low dose, but really effective, i take it more for energy than constipation. I am starting a cal-mag tonight it is a 1:1 of 250 mg of each, if your calcium supplement constipates you, switch to a 1:1, since most sold are 2:1 call:mag.

Citrus fruits give me heartburn.
All in all like i said this all took time for me and i am still incorporating at my own pace, take your time and know that soon it will start going your way and that you can do it, just don't rush it. oh and baked sweet potatoes with roated veggies and beans is divine.

Can you tell me the brand names of the powder magnesium supplement you take with the measuring cap? And the name of a cal/mag that is 1:1? How much are you going to take?

You are able to eat your seeds whole too, right? Without them being in ground up spread? Why is raw nut spread better?

Finally, when you say you eat grains with your dinner or lunch, what sort of grains are you talking about? I think bread, rice, rice noodles are constipating me. But I notice you don't eat SF with your high IF meals or before fruit snacks. Do you just rely on your Acacia as your SF for the entire day?

Thank you Miso...so very much!

What kind of pasta do you eat? Whole wheat?

Do you eat the peels of the potatoes? Are regular potatoes okay for C or does it have to be sweet potato?

the pasta i eat is kamut or rice, the kamut is a whole grain and the rice pasta is made of brown rice. with new potatoes i eat the skin if they are roasted, with russets or sweetpotatoes i bake them and do not eat the skin, just the fluffy insides, i just love the taste of the bright porange sweet potaoes, plus they have way more nutrition in them.

the mag/pot aspartates are by AOR, but other companies make that type of product. The cal/mag 1:1 is a liquid that is ionic and mixed with cherry and berry juice with nothing else added, the vit c from the berries make the cal/mag more absorbable as wll as it being ionic, which means that it is 100% absorbable because your body doesn't have to do the work to inoze it. The company is prarie naturals and the product is called bone solutions 1:1 , it might only be available in canada, but you could order it online from canada, it is amazing, i took it last night and have had 3 BM today, i love it so far.another good ionized product is magical, but that is a 2:1, but still really absorbable.I am taking 1 tbsp of the bone solution and that gives me 250 mg of cal and mag each. I do eat my seeds whole, i just chew really well, but also do the spreads.Raw is easier to digest because the natural enzymes are still intact, but its often hard to find refrigerated raw nuts in HFS. thats why raw nnut butters make it easy, maranatha makes a great raw almond butter that is available in US and Canada.
I do mostly rely on acacia for soluble, but also the soluble that exists in the insoluble veggies and fruit, the peels are IF and the insides which are bbigger than the peels are SF, so i get a good ratio. The grains i eat are cereals, the nutty rice, flax or oat millet rice i mentioned beofre. the lunch grain is either spelt bread, WW pita or millet/brown rice, soba noodles if i make some sort of grain salad.
dinner sometimes has kamut pasta, otherwise i have no grains at dinner.
