As you can see from the ingredients list below they contain a variety of problematic oils, chocolate, dairy and high fructose corn syrup.

Anyone of these ingredients could be causing D.

Generally speaking commercial Pop Tarts are junk food to be avoided at all times!

Ingredient list

Enriched wheat flour (wheat flour, niacinamide, reduced iron, thiamin mononitrate [vitamin B1], riboflavin [vitamin B2], folic acid), sugar, vegetable oil (canola, cottonseed, palm, palm kernel, soybean, partially hydrogenated soybean and/or cottonseed, hydrogenated cottonseed oil, TBHQ for freshness)+, high fructose corn syrup, dextrose, corn syrup, semi-sweet chocolate chips (sugar, chocolate, cocoa butter, dextrose, soy lecithin), contains two percent or less of cracker meal, salt, modified corn starch, leavening (baking soda, sodium aluminum phosphate), cornstarch, natural and artificial flavors, caramel color, nonfat milk, gelatin, mono- and diglycerides, sodium stearoyl lactylate, yellow #6 lake, DATEM, blue #2 lake, xanthan gum, color added, red #40 lake, soy lecithin, yellow #5 lake, niacinamide, reduced iron, dried egg whites, vitamin A palmitate, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), riboflavin (vitamin B2), thiamin hydrochloride (vitamin B1), folic acid.

They make me crap, that's a good thing, everyone's body is diffrent(some people should stay away), so don't tell me not to eat them,i know i thought it was strange it helps my ibs. I know the amount of which i can eat, i don't eat a lot of them, so don't strickly tell me or others to AVOID!

This Board is based on following the principles of the Eating For IBS Diet. Based on those principles, two of the elements Syl has pointed out are to be avoided - dairy is one of the Big Four trigger foods and should be avoided completely; high fructose corn syrup is problematic for many IBSers and should be avoided if at all possible.

My guess about why these make you "go" when you eat them on an empty stomach is that eating HFCS and dairy without a soluble fiber base is causing colonic spasms. Also, the percent of calories from fat for your Pop Tarts is 22%. Although that is below the 25% maximum Heather recommends, it would be too much for me first thing in the morning and would probably also cause colonic spasms. If you're happy with this, so be it, but usually inducing colonic spasms will cause bigger problems down the line even if the immediate outcome is desirable.

I understand you're not happy about being told to avoid a food you enjoy, but please dial down the sarcasm and anger. Many people on the Board have strong ideas about what foods are and are not a good idea and when they express those ideas they are sincerely trying to help you. In fact, I would be prepared to argue that if people *don't* recommend you avoid certain foods, they are undercutting the entire purpose of these Boards. If you don't like the advice you're given, just ignore it.
