Hi all, I read somewhere that antibiotics taken for awhile is not beneficial. Something like it messes up the gut and thats why probiotics are useful. Is this true?

Tony,

Long-term use of antibiotics disrupts the balance of flora in our bodies, including our guts. The reason is that antibiotics kill off both the bad and the good bacteria which leads to our bodies not being able to digest as efficiently as they should. Antibiotic use also increases the risk that the bad bacteria and other culprits, such as yeast, will grow out of control which causes all sorts of other problems.

It is always a good idea to take probiotics whenever you take a round of antibiotics. Taking them daily is also good for you. Many of us find health benefits from doing so.
