Hi, I've just started taking the acacia tummy fibre 1 1/2 weeks ago (at the recommended dose of 1/2 tsp. am & pm) but I am experiencing severe bloating and have not had a bm for a week (that's my standard symptom of IBS, severe constipation).
My Dr. has me on Dicetel (a bowel relaxant) because I was having such severe attacks but a side effect can be constipation! If I'm taking the acacia now, should I risk stopping the Dicetel? The Dicetel has stopped the painful attacks, but I'm still constipated and extremely bloated...I just don't know if the two (acacia and Dicetel) are counteracting each other.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you're still at that low a dose, it's probably not enough to do anything, so I'd stay on the medication until I'd increased the dosage quite a bit. Are you getting enough IF? While I'm IBS-D, I've read a lot of posts from IBS-Cers that say that they need to get a lot more IF than us IBS-Ders to have regular BMs. Make sure you get it in safe ways, but that should help.
