Malt O'Meal is a brand that copies dry cereals and they usually come in large or bulk bags at grocery stores - but I'm not talking about that kind of cereal. I'm talking about the hot Malt O'Meal that you make. I miss hot Malt OMeal, especially the maple and brown sugar flavor they came out with. Is this safe? Back before I had IBS, I used to eat this stuff a lot, a great comfort food on cold mornings - I would add a bit of milk, butter, and honey and/or sugar. Obviously now I'd replace the dairy. But I was wanting to hear your thoughts. Sorry I can't remember the ingredients. But I know from reading Heather's book(s) that there's a difference between WHOLE wheat and just unbleached wheat flour; which is a real comfort to me since now I understand why I tolerate some products with "wheat" and others I can't tolerate. Thanks for anyone's input! Take care all!

MOM, either flavor is safe. You can mix with all soy milk or half water. I add acacia to mine in the AM. I also add some salt and stevia and margarine or coffeemate. MOM is a very good breakfast for IBS. When I am not watching cals I like raisins or bananas in it. MOM has less calories than oatmeal.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
