I know this sounds weirds but doctors look at me like I'm crazy... has any of you experienced this??? I feel as though I want to scratch my colon.... it's so weird...please help me guys... have you heard of this before?????

Thank you much, and hopefully someone can help me!

Thanks,

Oh my goodness! My sister had this sensation for many months a couple years ago and went through tons of tests and elimination diets to find the cause. I don't recall now what actually fixed the problem but I'll talk to her as soon as I can (she lives out of town) and get back to you. She ended up with the nickname "itchy butt" (but the itching was up inside her colon) which must have cheered her up! NOT!
Hope someone else has an answer for you before I find out more information from my sister. I'll put my answer in this thread when I know something.

Ok Gab here's what my sister told me about her IBS (Itchy Bowel syndrome,LOL). She's had it for about 10yrs so it's been a lot of experimentation but this is what she knows. Her's is a food allergy. Any processed foods like chips, pretzels, doughnuts, mostly junk foods, etc and dairy products. If your following Heather's diet the dairy shouldn't be an issue. You may have different food sensitivities so experiment. Her doctor put her on a med called "Cortafoam (sp?)" that absolutely gives her total relief when she has a flareup. She said she never lets that med run out especially if she is traveling and more prone to not eating properly. But to avoid the attacks she avoids most processed foods completely. You could ask your doctor about this med and see what they say. Her doc has only had one other patient with this same problem. Good luck and hope you get some relief soon.

I've never had itchy bowels but I have had itches that feel like they are inside instead of out. Usually on my legs. Such an odd sensation. I want to just reach inside my leg and scratch it.

Well...I haven't had the itchy bowel syndrome (itchy butt, yes), but I can imagine. Keep track of it and discuss it with your doctor. One thing that I do feel/experience is the feeling of my intestines growing hairs. I do not know what this means--have you ever sensed this? Hmmm...hairy guts syndrome?

Kate, IBS-D.

Thank you all for your replies... I have no clue to what this is.... I wonder if I should go to the doctor again, specialist.

I don't know how would it feel to grow hair... sorry...

Mine it;s an itchy sensation inside my bowels... or at least I think that's what it is.

Could it be gas that you are feeling? Or a hemorroid(?)????
