thought I would share- I used Buscopan in an emergency situation (read about it here) with severe cramps, followed it with water and a pot of mint tea and the pains disappeared to absolutely nothing, not even tenderness, no D etc within about 30 mins. I am ecstatic so thought I would share.

It's available over the counter in the UK (but not Republie of Ireland where I live I got it in Stanstead airport when visiting friends as I hadn't seen it before) and I checked on the map on the website and it's also in Canada, Australia and other countries but oddly not in the US (FDA issues maybe?)

Anyway, you all know that I don't work for the company but I am really excited to be able to tell you all about something that WORKS!

My GI recently presribed Buscopan for me. I was afraid to try it unless I was really desperate since he warned it could make very C. I am an A and I got desperate one night last week. I agree with Cailin, it worked great, well it put me to sleep and I had no pain or D episode.

Did the Buscopan make you C after taking it? How many did you take? I'm IBS-C and I been reading about it for a while, but wasn't sure if that stuff really works. I want to try it, but if I get C that would make things so much worst for me. Maybe if I just use it once in a while when I really need it won't make C. What do you guys think? Thank you for telling us about it.

Blessings,
Abi

No, definitely not C today! Usually alcohol makes me C and if anything I am LESS C than I would normally be after drinking. I only use it when I have very bad cramps and it has worked for that, it's my emergency product.

and after that long it stopped being effective for me. It did work very well when I first started taking it. But I was told only to use it before meals, never if I was already having attacks because I wouldn't be absorbing the drugs, it would just pass through my system.
I'm now on Dicyclomine and it is working well. But it makes me drowsy.
Glad the Buscopan is working for you.

Buscopan is not available in the States, but Levsin is. Have you looked into that one?

I only took one pill and it did not seem to make me C. I only plan on taking it once in awhile when I reaallly need it. This is the second prescription I have tried for IBS, the first was Dicetel what an awful experience that was. I hope you find something that helps

I am not sure if you can order Buscopan on the web. I didn't realize it was only available in the UK and Canada. I am not an online shopping person so I wouldn't know what to suggest, maybe someone else could help out here? I got mine through a prescription from a GI Specialist. I hope you have some luck!!!
