I was wondering if lemon water is okay to drink.
I know it's a dieretic (sp).
I once drank a lemonade icce and it disagreed badly with me.

So what's the deal with lemon water?

In order to answer this question, you would need to tell us what the exact ingredients are in the water because additives and artificial sweeteners, in addition to lemon, can be IBS irritants.

It's just water and lemon juice from the bottle.
I don't have the bottle with me now.
I'm at work.

If it really is just lemon & water, and the lemon isn't overly strong it should be okay unless you are extremely sensitive to citrus. For example, I'm okay with water & lemon or even most lemonade, but I wouldn't go near a glass of orange juice.

As for the lemon Icee, I'm guess that would have had something like high fructose syrup in and/or artificial stuff, both of which some IBSers are sensitive to.

Lemon juice, like all citrus juice, can be an irritant for IBS. That doesn't mean that some IBS people can't tolerate lemon juice, but as a general rule it is an irritant. If the lemon water has already bothered you, I would stay away from it.

I personally am able to tolerate lemon juice. But I use fresh organic lemons and squeeze the juice onto my dinner to give it more flavour. My dinner always includes one or more soluble fibre staples which helps me better tolerate iffy foods like lemon juice.

I would never dream of drinking water with lemon on its own ... unless I was hoping for an IBS attack!
