I've got a question. I used to take Zoloft for depression but I went off of it because it did not provide much relief for my depression and it did not have any effect on my C. I've decided to give AD a try again, mainly due to depressive symptoms. I understand that ADs can be used to treat IBS and I'd like to know if anyone has had success with a particular brand of AD to treat their IBS related constipation. Thanks.

First of all, I am sure responses to this medication are individual in nature. But just to chime in and state my experiences, I have been on and off Zoloft several times (mostly to treat chronic depression). The last time I tried to take it I had to stop because it made my IBS much worse-specifically it seemed to cause horrible constipation. And in the past it seemed like it made diarrhea worse too. So my experiences have not been positive, but you may have a different experience. Plus, at the time, I was not following the IBS dietary guidelines very carefully. So that may have been a factor too. I personally have found that nothing helps like the IBS diet and some exercise! Best of luck to you and hang in there!
