Hello All, I am just starting to deal with my IBS. I have been taking fish oil supplements for omega 3 fatty acids (enteric coated capsules, 2000 mg daily). I am trying to sort through what things are triggers and I wonder if anyone knows whether these supplements are problematic for IBS?
Thanks!

I have never had a problem with it, but everyone is different.

I take 2 1000 mg ones a day in the morning with my acacia and multivitamin. I haven't had any problem with them, but my husband (who can eat anything) can't tolerate them at all! So everyone is different, but I think fish oils are some of the easiest fats for IBS'ers to digest.

That is good to know. I am slowly trying to figure out what is triggering my morning D attacks. But I think it might be the coffee and not the fish oil. Big surprise huh?
Thanks everyone for your advice!

Coffee's a no-no. Try going without it for a couple of weeks and see if it makes a difference for you.

Coffee was a huge trigger for me, and I didn't even know it. I just thought it was like a laxative, but after reading through a lot of the information, I know now, why I've had the bouts I've had. Eating and drinking all the wrong t hings in the wrong order! I was thinking cut out all carbs (big mistake of course). And, I have not had coffee for about 3 weeks and am following the Heather's diet and things have improved substantially. I can actually make it to work without too much worry now.

Yeah, I think coffee is more likely to be to blame than the fish oil!

I tried fish oil supplements at one time but DID NOT agree with me. If you find out differently let me know. This may sound weird, but what I found that really really helped me was not eating anything you get from a cow.Just took it out of my diet(meat, cheese, milk, etc)
