My husband works late all the time and I have young girls. I think the only exercise i get is picking up the toys I trip over LOL. Just attempting to clean the house is my exercise I guess. I clean up something and the three year old comes behind me and messes it up again.

The cold weather makes me want to curl up in a blanket all the time. My five year old is always giving me a blanket if I sit down. I try not to becuase then I will never get off the couch. I have lost 35 pounds since September and so now I don't have the extra fat to keep me warm. Not that I am complaining. Just cold.

I agree, having a partner really helps, I feel ackward going by myself most of the time! I find a walkman/discman with great pumping music helps...even for an hour at the gym, get at your buddies! Also, buying a few workout (shape, muscle and fitness) magasines help...How about a Yoga video? I haven't tried yoga yet but plan to, hear it's really great for both the body and mind! when the weather warms up, taking scenic walks with my dog help me get out of the house.

Hope you get energy and feel better soon

I would schedule a visit with your doc. You may need some bloodwork done to rule out any difficiency (sp?) or problem. I remember just before I was struck with a kidney stone attack last June that I was extremely tired. I'm not saying you have kidney stones....just explaining that there may be some other reason than diet for your tiredness and lack of energy. Best to see your doc in my opinion.

I have gone to my doctor previously about tiredness because I remember a few years ago I was really tired out...and all he did was stick me with needles and tell me that there was nothing he can see.

So I am scared of wasting my time....I am guessing it is due to the weather and not excersising. I am gonna try the excercising thing and try to rid myself of the cold winter blues LOL. Maybe that will help. If not off to the doc I go to get more needles (My gosh I hate needles)

Hi! My only thought was if you were on any meds that may make you tired? Otherwise, I would check with the doc just to be sure.

I know what you mean about the exercise. I just FINALLY got back into routine. I get up every morning & exercise before work. I've been going for 4 or 5 weeks straight now, and I feel really good! But it took me a while to get motivated--I hadn't worked out since last July. I tried a few times to get back into routine, but I'd exercise maybe 1 or 2 days, then not again for a few weeks. The first week is the hardest, then it's a breeze--at least for me anyway!

Oh, and I do notice that I sleep better when I exercise.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

I have a Yoga video and I have done it once - but it seems so low impact I have trouble believing it does anything for a person so I have trouble digging it out and doing it!

Thanks Mags -

I have never really been an AM excersise person, maybe I should push myself to do it after work. It's tough though because I work until 6 every night. I do a little bit of a sales thing after work. So by the time I get home I am hungry and am only thinking about food LOL.

How long should a person work out for...an hour? half hour?

I try to force myself to take a walk...whether long or short...after work if the weather is nice. If the weather is bad...I walk up and down our stairs to our basment about a dozen times. Exercise always energizes me...it's the getting energized to do the exercise that's the hard part. Ha! But, every little bit helps I guess. I know I always feel better the more exercise I get. Even if I'm just doing dishes or laundry....anything to keep moving. Like my 75 year old mother-in-law says when she keeps moving..."use it or loose it!"

You might also have low blood sugar...if you can, try to eat some fruit or juice or something like that. That helps me, too.

Do keep an eye on it though and see your doc if the exercise doesn't do it.

I was just the same way about 2 weeks ago. Everytime I sat down I would fall asleep. I had no fever or any other symptom of being sick. I was so bad a few days that my 6yr old daughter had to take care of my 2 younger sons because I literally could and did not have the energy to get up.

I went to the doctor and he told me that in a few days I would start to get cold symptoms. But that this is a virous that is out and it is really kicking people in the pants. One patient could not get out of bed for 5 days because he was soooooo weak He told me I was pretty luck if I had only had this for 2 weeks. Most people were having this for up to four weeks.

It was really weird. I have never been that bad off from a virous. So, watch out. Make sure you are taking a multi vitamin, and vitamin C, and drink plenty of fluid. That is what got me through.

A know EXACTLY how you feel. Personally, I am a very active person so I work out a lot, but ever since I found out I have IBS (12 months ago) I can't get my butt out of bed and I HATE it!!! I have to get up for work at 5:30 am so on the weekends I used to sleep in until 6:00 but in the last twelve months I can't get out of bed on the weekend and it is driving me crazy!! Whenever I have an attack of IBS I can sleep for days and days at a time until my system regulates itself. I think a side effect of any type of gastrointestinal difficulty is tiredness.

Several years ago, I kept falling asleep early and waking up late so I went to a dietician and we found out that I wasn't eating enough calories. Are you getting enough food?? You need carbohydrates for energy. Thank goodness Heather's diet is full of complex-carbs so that should help, but make sure you're getting enough.

I also highly recommend any type of exercise. It has been very cold here too, which doesn't help the motivation, but we're having a chinook today!!!

Hope this helps.
