What brands do you consider safe to have?
I can't fathom why Soy Ice Cream or Soy milk cause problems for me, because they both are low in fat, and I handle Soy Sauce without a flinch.

If it's not the Soy, is there anything in Soy Ice Cream, or a true safe brand I could try to determine if it is me or the soy at blame?
Thanks.

I am okay with Tofutti, but I don't think I'm as fat-sensitive as some. It's also the only one I've found that I truly like.

Yes, Tofutti works for me.
Which makes me question if Soy really bothers me, if I could not handle Soy, wouldn't I have a problem with Tofutti?

That seems logical. I eat Tofutti and Soy Dream. Maybe there are some sort of sugars or sweeteners in it that bother you. I don't know, I'm just trying to throw ideas out.

Thanks.

When I had Tofutti, I had it in a small dose.
If you ever have gone to whole foods, they sell mini tofutti ice cream sandwiches.
I had two for several days, and had zero problems, this was 300 calories, a nice serving.

Is there any difference between Soy Dream Ice Cream and Tofutti which could cause the variation?

The only thing I could think of was Caarengean, but I know the Toffutti also contained that ingredient, maybe it's worth another try.

They do vary a bit. You'd have to check individual flavors to see exactly what you're eating. I have one of each in my freezer right now but they are two dif. flavors so I can't really compare them.

I actually tried Soy Delicious Ice Cream, and had no problems to report.
My only issue is, the store I go to carries only a few limited flavors of Organic Soy and Fruit Sweetner.
Purly Decandent Soy has too much fat, they have a lot of flavors in the less fat ones, but the store carries few.

Do any of you in Boston know of a better store?

I've had the Tofutti and it's OK for me. The soy I don't seem to like as much. But I can tolerate both, and prefer the Tofutti (vanilla fudge) Yummmm

I had exactly the same thing I bought some soya ice cream, ate it 2 days in a row then had a really nasty attack, I couldnt understand it either as I'm ok with soy sauce but I was reading a health food magazine yesterday and this guy was talking to a nutritionalist about how he has IBS D and that he drank lots of soya milk as he couldn't tolerate dairy and the nutritionalist told him to cut down on the soya milk because it can have a mild laxative effect. Certainly made sense to my reaction! Hope that helps!

Not familiar with the brands of soy ice cream in USA, but here in Australia we have 'So Good', and it's absolutely delicious! Comes in chocolate and strawberry and now in blueberry and vanilla. Took a while to get used to though, but worth every penny to stay symptom free.

I cannot tolerate soy ice cream - at least the ones I have tried. Purely Decadent was the worst.
I eat Rice Dream ice cream which I LOVE and have had NO problems with this one!
