I recently read that these fermented type foods help the body build good bacteria, just like yogurt, but since we don't do well with yogurt or milk products, what about these in their place, especially after taking an antibiotic?

I would go for soy yogurt and probiotics first, but pickles are tasty and safe, too!

Have you tried miso or tempeh? Both are fabulous fermented soy foods--and both very delicious! They are staples for me.

I recently heard that sauerkraut (but NOT processed like normally you would find in the store... its supposed to be fresh or something... i don't remember) is amazingly good for the bacteria in your digestive system also. I personally shudder at the thought of eating it, but I've been taking probiotics which have helped. Sounds like one more natural way to get in the probiotics without taking a supplement... if you like it, it probably wouldn't hurt! -becca
