Hi there! Being new to this board is overwhelming right now as I don't know really where to start. This also may be the wrong place to post but I put my info on another forum and haven't received any replies. I am really interested in learning about dieting for IBS and am guessing I'll find most of my answers in Heathers FAQ's section? Also, can anyone tell me about her peppermint caps and the acacia fiber. what the acacia tastes like? how about her books? I thought I should purchase those as well. Thank you!

1. Read through all the dietary guidelines. Soluble fibre food list, Insoluble list, and Trigger lists. PS - check out Heather's printable cheat sheet.
2. For dieting and weight loss info, join the gang on the fitness board.
3. Acacia is tasteless. You can sprinkle it on food, bake it in food, or dissolve it into a drink (even water works).
4. Peppermint caps are great. They are a lifesaver for me. Try drinking lots of strong hot cups of peppermint tea throughout the day.
5. The books are worth their weight in gold. However, Heather is extremely generous. Practically all the dietary info from the books is posted for free on this website. Still, they are extremely helpful and the recipes are YUMMY!!!

Thank you, thank you for the pointers! You answered my questions esp about the acacia and pep caps! I did notice Heather has a bunch of info straight from her book online but I know what you mean-sometimes it's nice to have them to read where ever I go! I'll read more online and then see what I should do from there!

You can buy the whole set in Heather's store. Both books, fiber, and some other stuff. The books are priceless. Make sure you get them and read everything in them. There are great recipes and all kinds of info to make IBS easier to understand. I like having the books on hand so that I can share them with other people who aren't familiar with IBS.

Welcome to the boards. I hope you find a lot of helpful info on here.

The peppermint caps for some have helped a lot, but sometimes others can't tolerate them. I'm one of them. Although I don't have GERD or acid reflux problems, everytime I take a peppermint cap, I end up burping peppermint for the whole day...just with 1 cap. I don't have a problem with the peppermint tea though. So if you do start to have any issues with the caps, try the tea.
