I would like to have another baby but have recently been told I have IBS. I have a lot of pain and wonder sometimes if something else is going on. I am concerned since I have had several stomach surgeries for a burst appendix and a internal hernia that blocked my small intenstine. I have a lot of adhesions also. Any information would be extremely helpfu.

Did a doctor diagnose you, and what kind of tests did he do to determine that?

Hi Gracie.

Yes - I have been to several doctors and had blood tests, ultrasounds, colonoscopy, endoscopy and only thing that found was a small ovarian cyst that they are leaving alone. The last doctor actually said that I had IBS. I have mainly IBS-C but also a lot of stomach pain and gas. Not sure if the pain is from previous surgery or not.

Have you tried the fennel and peppermint teas to help with the pain and gas? A lot of people have found it helpful.

I am finding some relief in the teas and Heather's fiber. I am just concerned about what to expect when I am pregnant. I am afraid I will be too sick to care for my family.

There are some people on here who are currently pregnant. I hope they give you a lot of information. I've known people with IBS who have been pregnant and the pregnancy really didn't affect the IBS much, but each person is different. Perhaps you could discuss your concerns with the GI and OBGYN doctors too.

I am currently pregnant about 9 weeks. I am mostly C and for the first few weeks I went fine, but then I had two really bad attacks. I had stopped taking Acacia and realized that i needed it. So I am back on it and although I am still C at least I am going enough to feel some relief. Before I wasn't going at all and then I would have an attack after about 3days. I have also increased my fiber to much more than what I use to eat. I figure that should help as well. The thing I am running into know is gas and bloating. I am going to ask the doc if I can take Gas-X or not.
