Hey everyone- I am scared to death. I have bad bad bad IBS, and no one I know can help me. My doctors have all given up on me and my familys tired of hearing me complain. I have constipation all of the time , with bouts of diarrhea in between. Its constipation, diarrhea, constipation, diarrhea.. and pain pain pain. I wake up with pain, i go to sleep with pain. I try so hard to eat, because im terribly skinny, but everytime I eat, it just brings me pain. Im so afraid of the pain, that i get these sudden panic attacks all of the time, and its just terrible. I work partime as a analyst and go to nursing school full time, so needless to say, I dont really have time for pain! Please.. someone give me help. I hate eating, and all i am taking right now is an probiotic.

And have you read through the site? Heather's books are incredibly helpful, and will point you to many things that can make you feel better.

Yep, there is hope. Try the diet for starters if you aren't on it already. And for sure get some peppermint tea or peppermint caps. I was off on a nearly 3 month bad bout and it is mostly because I was lazy and didn't follow the diet closely. I would lapse. And I suffered for it. After eating only "what to eat when you can't eat anything" for 6 weeks I am starting to feel better. I even had baked chicken tonight with sweet potatoes. You can do it!! We all have! I'm sorry about the pain though, is there anything that eases it? Heat? I don't get long-term pain, just when I have my attacks of D.

Hang in there. What are you currently eating when you do eat? What steps have you taken re: diet, meds, etc? It is frustrating to not be able to eat, live in pain, and feel like no one understands. I am just starting to use this board as a resource and support and it helps. Breathe deep and take care of yourself.
