I don't know why, but two nights ago my pain started up...that lovely feeling of being kicked by a horse...and my antispasmodic medicine was expired. A coworker had some peppermint caps unopened so I gave them a try. So far, so good, and I'm not having near the bloat and gas I normally have to deal with in the afternoon, and no burning ect...that I sort of expected. I'm going to try one more tonight.
Curious from those of you who use them: do you only use as needed or daily? I tend to have to deal with bloat and gas on a pretty regular basis between lunch and bed time every day to some degree. I'm wondering if I should just use one in the evening or try two a day? Any ideas? Last time I used some peppermint, I eventually had to stop because of reflux...which I very seldom deal with. When I left off the peppermint the reflux went away for the most part.
I'm glad for the relief. I did get a renewed prescription on the antispasmodic, and will pick it up so I'll have something on hand. I don't have to deal with this kind of pain often, thank goodness, but when it comes, I just want it to stop!

If I'm having a particularly bad IBS day, I take them a half hour before every meal (3 or 4 times a day). I ALWAYS take one a half hour before dinner because after dinner into the middle of the night is when my symptoms are at their worst. Other than that, I usually take them as needed.
