I would like to see more info from fellow sufferers of the IBS with constipation. I don't have "attacks" of pain and diarrhea, which is the more common affliction of IBS, but do struggle to be "regular" and not try to pass rocks, which are painful as well. For those of you on the opposite end of the spectrum, you can't imagine how uncomfortable it is, and how worrisome. I am following Heather's diet plan and using the Acacia powder, which have helped, but hope some of you have more tips for me. I'm newly diagnosed and trying to find a balance.

Are you incorpoating IF into your diet? I'm and IBS-A so sometimes I get C and sometimes I get A. Sweet potatoes work great for me when I'm feeling C.

If you do a search on "IBS-C" or "constipation" you'll get plenty of info. Omit the quotes when doing the search.

Welcome! Do searches on this portion of the board, and you will gain tons of information about C!! The acacia/water/probiotics have helped regulate me almost completely!! This is a great place! You really need to be getting plenty of IF in your diet along with SF and water! Exercise helps a lot of us too!!

Enjoy the board!

For constipation, I swear by flaxseed oil capsules (I take the 1,250 mg ones). They work fantastically, without causing cramping or dependency, and if you have a very sluggiush digestive tract (which I do), they help to make it move at a normal pace. Hope this helps!

...how much do you take a day? Where did you buy them? I take flaxmeal...but that's more for the fiber. I used to take one flax capsule a day, but didn't notice any difference.

I use this brand named "Solgar" (1,250 mg) and I just got it at a regular health store. I use from 4-6 (usually 4) capsules a day, but I do have to warn you that there's 1 gram of fat per capsule. The first few days I was one them, I got stomach aches, but oddly enough, it subsided. I take 1 or 2 capsules every time I eat, except for small snacks. Hope this helps a bit!

I heard it is important to make sure it is refrigerated...but I can't seem to find it stored this way in the HFS. The retailers assured me that it only has to be refrigerated after it was open.

I think I need a break from so many of my supplements anyhow.

I actually just found it on a shelf, because it supposedly doesn't have to be refrigerated until after it's opened.
