My main problem is huge amounts of GAS then spastic colon so I can't expell it...really awful! I am on a modified IBS diet and now taking acacia powder. I am very small in size and sensitive, so I am only taking 1/2 teaspoon a DAY right now...and it took me a week to get up to that dose! Could it possibly (at that small amount) be giving me extra gas? While the BMs are already being helped by the acacia, the gas seems worse...but then it is always so bad it is hard to tell. Just wondered if such a small dose might cause gas, and if so, is this just a temp situation until the body accepts the change?

I haven't taken the acacia fibre yet, but I think 1 week to get up to 1/2 tsp might be soon. Was everything okay with 1/4 tsp?

I had a problem, too, with the acacia powder at first. I was taking 1/2 tsp twice a day and Heather told me to drop it to 1/2 tsp a DAY, which I did and it worked wonders. I'm now up to 1 tsp twice a day and feel so much better. I still have bouts of explosive D, but it's not every day like it used to be. So, try reducing it by half and hopefully that will help you.

I stopped taking it and the gas siutation is much better! See, I started the IBS diet at the same time I did the powder. My husband muscle-tested me and the only thing that came out weak (on the new diet) was the acacia powder. After 2 days without it, I began to get much better...still with the new diet, of cours.

I find that a certain amount of magnesium helps my BMs alot, so I use that instead.
