I have been trying the new dannon yogurt called activa. It is suppose to help regulate your digestive system and can take up to 2wks. I have been eating the prune one and it is pretty good. I havent seen a real diff. yet but I eat it in the morn. for breakfast. Has anyone tried it yet?

I tried this a couple of years ago. They were giving them out at our metro stop at work so I grabbed a few free samples in peach, berry and one other flavor (strawberry?). Anyway, it did nothing for me but give me horrible gas and D. I don't know what I was thinking, eating that amount of dairy and expecting a good result.

If you eat dairy with no problem (unlike most IBS-ers)), maybe you get some of the probiotic benefits. If not, just try the probiotic pills instead and skip the sairy.

This yogurt is supposed to help people who are more on the constipated side, but not necessarily people with IBS since dairy is a trigger.

I also eat the Activa yogurts by Dannon (yogurts are the only dairy that I don't have a problem with). I think it helps me "go" when I need to. It's definitely worth trying if you don't have a problem with dairy!

Yogurt is all hype. For ultimate probiotic benefit, buy some probiotic caps. Those are more potent than yet another trendy yogurt. Dairy is nasty for IBS, and that includes yogurt.

Trust me, it's yet another ad scam.

I know you said you have been doing H's diet for a week in another post, but did you realize no dairy is allowed? Just a helpful FYI reminder.

I know people who do not have IBS that have benefitted from using this yogurt. Danone has never recommended this yogurt for people who should not have milk products:

Is there a risk in eating too much Activia®? Are there any counter-indications?
We have no specific information on over-consumption of Activia® because fermented milks are regular consumption food. Although, throughout our clinical studies, certain subjects had to ingest three portions per day for 15 days, and we noted no particular complaints – even from elderly people who were not used to ingesting such quantities of yogurt.

All over-consumption can alter the dietary routine, so it is important to ingest foods from all necessary groups every day.

Counter-indication: Allergies to milk.
