infant with IBS?

I have a friend with a ten-week old infant. He has chronic diarraha. (sorry,can't spell it...maybe because I have IBS-C  ) The doctor told her that he is 75% underweight and MUST be put on a diet of animal protein (milk, etc). The baby cannot tolerate milk..even goat's milk. I don't know if he has IBS or not, but he fairs so much better on a puree of almond - pumkin seed puree blended with a baby oatmeal. I mean, this is REALLY blended to the consistence of milk....I believe she also uses rice milk in it. However, this is not solving the weight problem and he still DOES get diarreha, just not as often or severe.
Any suggestions?
