I have been wondering if I should add an oil capsule supplement to my daily diet.I am mostly eating a very low fat diet.My skin is very dry,all the time.I am IBS-C,and I often notice when I splurge and have a meal w/more fat than I usually eat,I am most likely to have better bowel function the next day. Also I think I have read that it's important to have a certain amt. of oil in your diet.I think the article I read said to use fish oil capsules. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks,Su

If you do take an oil, make sure it's the healthy omega oils, more of the Omega 3 than 6.

Thanks Gracie. I haven't done the searching yet to find out what it is I need.I had a feeling it was omega 3. I wonder if it(being oil) will cause IBS problems. Guess I need to go to our local health food store and ask them.

I take these every day now. I used to take 'em every day, then got lazy and stopped buying it. However, my reason for taking 'em is to reduce my cholesterol. Although you make a good point about your skin. Mine's dry also, so hopefully the capsules will "kick in soon...."
Do a search, and you'll find lotsa stuff about it. Here's a post from Heather: web page
It's true; you DO need some oil in your diet, but only the ESSENTIAL oil, like Omega-3 and Omega-6, which is found in flaxseed oil; this kind of oil actually helps bring down the bad cholesterol. The capsules are best (I think), but hard to find. Health food stores carry 'em.
As for "better bowel function," I can't help you out much because I'm a "D", and I "go" all the time, capsules or not!
