Loose tea or tea bags?

Is there an advantage of the loose tea over the tea bags, or is it just a personal preference issue?

The only advantage that I like about the bags is you can take them with you anywhere in a ziplock bag.... you can get hot water all over the place....
You get 45 bags in the tin, I'm not sure how many servings are in the 14oz tin (loose)... as that would depend on your method of brewing I guess? I'm assuming the 1 pound bag of BULK (loose) is the most cost effective way to buy it....

Or is it more like seeds that need to be crushed with one of those little dishes? M & P something!

It's the same tea.... no need to crush it....with a mortar and pestle.

That's my thought too. I just don't understand why someone would buy the loose when the bags are so much more convenient.

Usually the loose tea is better quality. (I'm not saying this is the case with Heather's Fennel tea.) With Black and Green teas, that is the case.

I had posted a few weeks ago that I was getting a tea ball. Now that I have been working with it for a few weeks I am finding that I just love it. Here in Bellingham there is a shop called "The Spice Hut" (www.thespicehut.com) and the couple that owns and runs the store are from India. Well they have family that are still living in India.
She has been extremely helpful and was the one who introduced me to candy coated fennel seeds for digestion. I went to her store and bought a couple of ounces of Chamomille, and Hibiscus and of course, Fennel. I have found that combination is most tasty and soothing. I am just experimenting and learning about the different herbal teas.
My husband has been an advocate of the candy coated fennel. He tells everyone that they are like the candy we used to get at the movies called "Good and Plentys".
I am doing much better but still have some problems. I am learning like we all are. Please share any combinations that you all find so we can all add variety to our herbal teas.

I'm drooling over the candy coated fennel! What a great idea, how can I get some? I like the lose fennel because of the price but also because I do crush my seeds in a garlic press (don't use for garlic )I bought the tea bags also to take in my purse.

Hi Franny,
I have found that the candy coated fennel seeds can be found at any India food store, or resturant. The people in india have used this forever as a breath mint after dinner and also to settle your stomach. You many also want to check with your local tea shops, that is where I buy mine is in the little tea shop I go to.
Peace and sunshine, Lummibeader
