Hi, I'm IBS-D and have been following the advice on this site but I was wondering if we HAVE to puree the IF veggies, I have been having IF veggies with my potatoes and chicken but have been eating them whole after cooking them to within an inch of their life! Is this ok to do and if not how could I incorporate the puree version into my meals? Maybe using it as a sort of gravy or something? I also like to make my own potato&leek soup but I can't eat wheat/gluten so could I have the soup alone as it's blended or would I still need SF? Thanks everyone.

Not necessarily. If you can tolerate the well cooked veggies - go for it. You're right to include them with a baked tater. Make sure you chew very well - that helps, too.
Watch out with the potato leek soup - most contain dairy!! But yes, the potato in the soup is probably enough SF. You can always buy potato flour to thicken it, too!

Of course food processing isn't necessary. I must confess, however, that food processed IF is much more gentle on the body & I basically food process the majority of my food.

Besides potato starch, would arrowroot be another thickening alternative for your potato-leek soup recipe?

Kate, IBS-D.
