Has anyone else ever used effexor to treat IBS? I am currently using and would like to stop using and switch to more natural alternatives such as those recommended on this site.

I was taking effexor for depression, but I found it totally took away my IBS.

Are you still taking Effexor? Its a pretty powerful drug and I just wonder if it's the answer to my IBS. They have me taking wellbutrin as well. With the thought that if they can lower my anxiety the IBS symptoms will get better. I also have trouble sleeping so, with them throwing all these prescriptions my way, I don't know what normal feels like anymore.

Yup, I've been on it for about three months now for my IBS. After about a month my IBS 90% disappeared. I love the stuff:)

I'm not taking effexor anymore, but I was on (and still am) on wellbutrin. Remember, it takes quite a long time (up to 12 weeks) to see results.

I don't believe so because I am IBS-C.
