Hi, Im not sure where to post this so here goes. I have between 3-5 BM's daily. The stools are seemingly normal, not hard or loose usually. Its very disruptive. I have a strong urge to go. I recently found out i am sugar intolerant. So my intake is very minimal if any. Alot of the pain has gone away but not the urgency. I dont feel i can work a real job but i want and need to. I had shoulder surgery tuesday. Everytime i use anesthesia and some pain pills, My IBS disappears for up to a week. I will feel great. But then i will pay for it in the end cause i dont have a BM at all. Does anyone know why this is and does anyone else experience the same thing? Its like i dont have IBS for a while. Its really amazing, and i want to understand whats really happening. Someone here must know about this. Please?

Most pain killers given after surgeries have codeine (such as Tylenol-3), and this will definetly cause C the entire time you're taking them. Usually the side-effects from the pain killers aren't too bad since most people won't eat much after surgeries, or will stick to liquid diets. This is not a cure for IBS, and in fact could make D worse once things start moving again.

Have you looked around this site? There's lots of info about what type of diet you should follow that could help a lot.

Goodluck,
Kat
