I started smoking again back in October after having quit for about two years. My IBS did not necessarily get worse while smoking. However, I started the nicotine patch back in December. Since then, I have pretty much been in pain every day. I know that the tobacco in cigarettes in bad for IBS, but could the nicotine in the patch be causing me such horrible pain? Has anyone else had any experiences with the patch, either good or bad?

I don't think your pain is IBS/Nicoderm Patch inter-connected. If anything I find the patch an amazing quitting aid. Having ceased to smoke, I eliminated a lot of IBS-D attacks/cramps/pain & gas. I haven't smoked in 13 weeks, now.

Try extra virgin olive oil in moderation. I wouldn't touch the whipped butter and the fruit spread depends on the ingredients. It also depends on what you have. What are your symptoms.

Hello! You're in the right place, but you would get more replies if you posted this as a new post. Also, you might not want to post in all caps since it comes across as though YOU'RE YELLING AT US!!!!
Please see the IBS Diet FAQ and guidelines on the main Help for IBS page. The questions you're asking are pretty basic and quite common.
In the meantime, you want to have a low-fat, dairy free diet. So a bit of olive oil is safe as part of a high SF (soluble fiber) meal. Whipped butter is not safe since it's a dairy product and high in fat. However, there are plenty of non-dairy substitutes to choose from. If you do a search you'll find brand names recommendations for non-dairy margarine/butter. I use Earth Balance Whipped, which is vegan and tasty. You still have to watch your fat content.
Fruit spread - I've heard different opinions on this. I think a small bit is safe on bread. Make sure you buy fruit spreads that are free of HFCS. Some people prefer the seedless spreads.
HTH. Here's a link to the IBS Diet FAQ

Maybe because I'm IBS-C its having the opposite effect. All I know is that I have been in pain since starting it.

I am pleasantly less D without the smoking habit. So...could you be more "C?" Honestly, the act of inhaling a cigarette seriously stimulates my bowels/g.i. tract. I'm not sure if the musculature of smoking could be involved.
