Laxitives and the pill

Hello! I am currently on the pill, but I've been extremely constipated lately. ...I just have a quick question, because I do personally, sometimes feel the need to use a laxitive and I have been known to find relief from them.
Will a laxitive effect my birth control pill?? If I take both pills the same day, would the pill still work?

I don't think you would havea problem...I used to use exlax when I was on the pill and no issues

I'm not sure about this but I would ask your pharmacist because I've heard that, like having diarrhea, laxatives may reduce the absorption of the pill into your system. But maybe this is only if you have constant D or are taking laxatives regularly. Either way, you might need to use an additional birth control method if you take a laxative.

The best people to ask would be your doctor or pharmacist so there won't be any accidents. If you were just taking a fibre supplement I think it would be okay, but since it's a laxitive, it may not let the pill be properly absorbed, especially if you're taking it at the same time.
