I thought I had read where yeast caused some bloat and gas symptoms when they eat yeast containing foods. I think Maria is maybe one who has problems.
I've also read other books that say to avoid yeast if you have GI problems...and any time I read anything negative about any food, I become scared to eat it...just in case. Like, better safe than sorry since I am so symptomatic.
I'm a C not a D...so I don't think I have a bacterial problem. I just don't know what to do anymore.
I'm glad the Primal Defense is helping you. As a side not, the maker of that supplement is one who advocates no yeast in the diet for those with GI problems.

Hi, Beth! I'm glad you brought this up because now I believe I don't have a yeast intolerance. I think the real problem was that I was over-eating! I have about three slices (= 1-2 servings) of white bread or French bread a day now without a problem. Don't ask me how much I was eating before! It was a lot!
I hope you make the decision that is best for you and based on your symptoms. Has your current GI given you any definitive answers about your gluten intolerance?

I'm glad you have figured this out! I have done too much reading and I just get confused about the contradictory opinions.
No, the stupid doctors have been no help with the gluten issue. I am making myself sick with confusion.
What would you do if it were you?

I missed this one! What she was saying is what I have read too. But, I don't know what to think anymore.
I wonder how they tested her for these intolerances and if the testing is accurate.

I know what you mean about reading things and then becoming totally fearful of foods...I am definitely a "better safe than sorry person". However, just recently I decided since I was feeling better that I would experiment a little because my diet was boring me. Well, I tried eating Italian Chicken Sausage from the whole foods deli. I took the pork casing of and ate one in some sauce w/ pasta. It was great! I had it twice in one week and felt perfect. Then, the next week, I decided I would try this brand of sundried tomato and garlic meatballs because I could buy them at the local grocery store and not travel all the way to whole foods. They also contained no pork. Well let me tell you, I'm still paying 2 days later. I can see chunks in my BM's! and I had D this morning. I know, too much info, but I think I'm heading back to the "safe not sorry" lifestyle. It's just not worth it!
As for the maker of primal defense advocating no yeast, I didn't know that. But I can kind of see it, since garden of life also sells a lot of "fungal defense" products. Very interesting!
Like I said, I personally feel better when I eat bread every day because it is filling and harmless. I of course try not to over do it, but I'll have a few slices a couple times of day just to make sure I never let my tummy get too empty because that's when I really start to feel sick. I can't tell from your posts, but are you feeling better eating yeast free? if it is expensive and you're not, then you might as well stop, right? What kinds of things are you eating these days? I hate knowing that you are still feeling so awful/unstable! I know that when I avoid too many foods I also feel sick because I'm not eating enough period or enough variety to keep my digestive system working optimally. Does that make sense?
So what is on your menus these days? Maybe we could share some ideas w/ eah other!

My doctor told me to see what happens if I avoid bread products, and my nutrionist has always said to minmize bread to once a day. Heather's diet has little to say in regards to avoiding bread, which as well confuses me.
I've been told and read, bread can cause constipation, at the same time, when I eat Graham Crackers, Dinner Rolls, and Bread, my stomach has reduced bloating, but when I have say a Ciarbretta or a strachy bread, I feel more constipated, maybe due to the insoluable content?
I'm confused and too would like clarification, because being able to eat bread helps with dieting so much, particulalry with snacks and adesert. Otherwise, I'd be too hungry and rarely able to enjoy sweets.
Is too much bread or sugar bad, or should we not worry about these, focusing on dairy, redmeat, and fat?

Sorry, I missed this! Well, I know you've have the blood test for celiac four times (3 postive and 1 negative, right?), but there are a few things I want to know:
1) Did you have a biopsy of the small intestine to confirm the blood tests? Which blood tests did you have? Did other blood tests show signs of anemia or inflammation? You might want to check out labtestsonline.org; it really explains the various blood tests and screenings for different conditions really well.
2)I have heard that after a GI infection you can have temporary lactose or gluten intolerance. First, I'm wondering if this is true. This is what a doctor told me, but he wasn't a specialist. If it is true, then I'm wondering if you may had had a GI infection you were recovering from or if (due to your ED, how it affects your body, and recovering from that) having an ED and being possibly malnutritioned already fromt that, if it would affect the test and maybe give you a false positive?
3) After going GF, what changes did you notice in your body? Did you feel better? Did it make an immediate or long-term difference? If you felt better, could it have been due to something else, some other changes in what you were eating or in your lifestyle?
Whew. I had problems phrasing that last one. Anyway, I would want to know these things before giving my opinion.
