I was browsing through our little tea shop the other day and found some little pink and white candies so I asked the lady what they were. She said that they were candy coated fennel seeds. She let me try a sample and after we left there we went to a resturant for dinner. I ate everything including my steak and felt great afterwards. I did not have one problem at all.

So has anyone else heard of these candy coated fennel seeds??? Why did they work so well. They are so easy to take just eat a few before your meal and the food does not trigger the IBS. Has anyone else here tried them??? Have they worked for you????

Never heard of candy coated fennel, but since I like fennel, it sounds good.

Do they sell them in stores? I wonder if they are only available in the NW? If anyone sees these in stores, please post!

So maybe if you find a store that sells Indian/ethnic food they'll have it? We went once with an friend who is Indian and she said that it's a common candy she grew up on.

Fragrant Fennel Brittle
FAST
MAKE-AHEAD
TOTAL TIME: 15 MIN
MAKES ABOUT 1 CUP
Roasted fennel seeds mixed with sugar candies are offered at the end of an Indian meal as a kind of digestif. In Mehta's East-West version, the seeds are coated in caramel to make a unique candy.
ingredients
3 tablespoons fennel seeds
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons water

directions
Line a baking sheet with a 10-by-15-inch sheet of parchment paper. Toast the fennel seeds in a small skillet over high heat, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned, about 3 minutes.
In a small saucepan, cook the sugar and water over moderate heat until richly browned, about 13 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the fennel. Immediately pour the mixture onto the baking sheet and spread it 1/8 inch thick with a heatproof spatula. Break the warm brittle into rough 1-inch pieces.
