I've been stable for quite a while now & yesterday I decided to do a bit of baking So it was to be Heather's Peppermint Fudge cake! & lovely it was too! Only at 3am this morning I woke upto Chronic "D" I've gone through everything I ate yesterday & nothing that has caused a problem before so I can only assume it was the cake any ideas what could of been the cause?

Maybe you are sensitive to one of the ingredients in the cake? Or maybe you cheated before and got away with it but this time it caught up with you? Were you stressed at all yesterday? Sometimes it can be hard to pinpoint an attack causer. Hope you are feeling better.

sometimes I get the same way and I figure it must have been the cake. I think if I'm stressed or tired then I'm more susceptible to getting D, so the cake just throws me over the edge. Also, if I eat more than one serving then I usually get a funny, soft and/or uncomfortable BM after eating too much of the cake.

Maybe something like that?

My guess would be either the acacia or cornstarch or both could be the culprit! These can be difficult to tolerate and, for example, many people need to begin with very small dosages of acacia and some can't tolerate it at all.

I find 90 per cent of Heather's recipes contain ingredients that I can't tolerate. So please don't take Heather's recipes as the gospel truth.

You need to figure out what you can tolerate -- all of us vary in what we can have -- and then modify recipes to suit what agrees with you. Generally, foods such as red meat, milk, alcohol, caffeine and anything fatty are key triggers. Other foods, though, may be more "negotiable" to your tummy, but you need to try things slowly -- food by food -- to find out.

Hope this helps.
