I was wondering if you can have IBS-D for a few years then it changes to IBS-C? Has anyone experienced this? Can IBS do this?

I am IBS-A alternating and so are a few other on the site. I switch between D and C all the time. So I would say that it is possible. Especially if you changed your diet or lifestyle. Are you eating less IF than you were when you were D, less active? There are many things that can contribute to the change.

I went from chronic D (7 or more times a day at least) to chronic C...like overnight! Weird.
I'm not even an A. I went from straight D to straight C.

Yeah, sounds like me, but it took a few years and it was gradual. Now I can't go to the bathroom unless I take a laxative. The pain gets so unbearable that I have too. I don't know what to do anymore, I take fiber, excercise more, more fruits and veggies, still it doesn't seem to help.

No, not really eating less, about the same and more active than when I had IBS-D. Excercising more, thginking that would help my IBS-C.

My IBS is also changing pretty regularly. I used to be an A, but now that I'm on this diet I'm a C most of the time. I recently went back to being an A for about 6 months, and now I'm C again! IBS is just a strange disorder.
My mother also recently switched from D to C. She's never had a problem with C in her entire 56 years of living, and now she can't seem to have a BM. So you're certainly not alone!

My IBS hasn't changed ever since I was diagnosed with it over a year ago. I am just as C as ever. I very much would like to be D instead so I can escape the bloat.

Beth, Did that happen before or after you started EFI? I suspect before. -Bob

I began as IBS-D....in the bathroom 8-10 times a day. When it reappeared in my life a little over 2 years ago...severe C. Now, severe stress will send me back to D, but otherwise, I'm a C.
