I've seen a few websites online that sell expensive aloe supplements called AMPs. Apparently they extract a certain part of the plant, which requires a whole lot of aloe plant to get. I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with this and knows if it works because I am a bit skeptical of some of these sites. This site looks like it might be legitimate: https://www.serovera.com/order.html

Go to the research library - the link is at the top of the page, with the other forum names - and read up on the dangers of aloe. You couldn't pay me enough to try that stuff!

hi, casey. Thanks for the response. I've read the few articles there are on aloe vera in the research section. The websites that sell these AMP products say that they take a certain part of the aloe plant that does not hurt the body--they admit that part of the plant has negative digestive effects. AMP stands for aloe mucilaginous polysaccharide, so this is the part that is in the pills. One site says that the FDA approves the use of the product. If anyone knows any more about this that would be so helpful, because I'm skeptical to dish out all that money on something that has so little information out there.

I used aloe for almost 3-4 months and it did not really affect by semi stable IBS. Back when I was using it I was having an attack once a week and that was the way it was before I started and after I stopped. I stopped it because I realized that it was not doing nothing for me. Good Luck

Seems to be ok! I think it's better if you have trouble with C rather than D... i have bad pains but it certainly hasn't made them worse! Just my experience so far!

Aloe is not approved by the FDA http://www.fda.gov/OHRMS/DOCKETS/98fr/78n-036L-nfr0004-vol107.pdf
...The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is issuing a final rule stating that the stimulant laxative ingredients aloe (including aloe extract and aloe flower extract) and cascara sagrada (including casanthranol, cascara fluidextract aromatic, cascara sagrada bark, cascara sagrada extract, and cascara sagrada fluidextract) in over-the-counter (OTC) drug products are not generally recognized as safe and effective or are misbranded....
The main reason being the lack of data on toxicity, safety, efficacy

Hi Sky, THere are so many other ways to that are safe and not harsh to get yourself going. It's not worth it to mess around with aloe, besides which it has an absolutely horrible after taste. -Bob
