Has anyone heard that you should not eat/drink any soy product that has "carrageenan" in it? I believe it is a gel like substance. CMB

I *think* it's ok for most people... only problematic if you're allergic to it. I'm not 100% on that, but I know there are people here who are sensitive to it, so maybe they'll see this and weigh in on it.
Personally, I'm fine with it - no problem at all.

is a thickening agent. it is natural made from a form of seeweed.. for most people it is fine, for me it and MSG cause nasty headaches and general ickyness... it is chemically similar to MSG in some ways and many people with MSG issues also have to avoid it (per my nutritionist). Sadly because of texture issues it is added to a LOT of soy products (not all) and also to a lot of other vegan alternatives... but its also in a lot of non specialty foods as well....

Thanks for the info. I looked on the Silk Soy Enhanced Milk carton ingredients and the carrageenan is the 7th item that's added - so I'm assuming it is not in great quantity in the milk - hopefully, as I definitely cannot tolerate real milk.
