Snorkie, The Loopers have Meijers, we Yoopers don't . But there is a Walmart supercenter in Houghton now, much to a lot peoples dismay. However, I haven't bought any food from it. Actually, I haven't even been in it yet. Say, is there a lot of safe food in Thai food. My Sister and Dad have been leaning on me to go out to Thai food places in Chicago. -Bob

Chinese takeout in Chattanooga,Tennessee! My goodness, never thought I'd see the day. I ought to go down there one of these days considering my regiment is the 10th Tennessee Volunteers, Sons of Erin. -Bob

Sand, Oh yeah! That one the most violent flick that I can remember seeing, but it was good to see that Dustin Hoffman got the bad guys. I think that was a Stanley Kubrick film was it not? Never saw 'Clockwork Orange' but I've heard it was on the same bloody scale. Hope you enjoyed your movie. Oh, How was that Bourbon Chicken? -Bob

Oh my gosh! Why wouldn't they let you and your DH live in the house you were in? Just because you went on disability. I never knew that they did such nasty things, even in Taxachuse- tts. -Bob

Well, there wasn't a DH and my landlady for almost 30 yrs. died. Her family sold the house and when I got the "notice to vacate", I kinda had a little attack of hysteria. I was born and lived on Cape Cod which has gotten crazy with rents, so I couldn't find a place I could afford. I also had a small business that was going under. So.... I was basically out on the street. I stayed with my brother for a while, but ..... After being hospitalized for depression and panic attacks the hospital found this place for me. It isn't perfect but as the saying goes around here "It's better than Pine Street" (the shelter in Boston). They treat us good and it is like a rooming house or dorm. So, that's my sucky last 3 years in a nutshell.

I think there have been a few threads about Thai food.
I do really well with chicken or shrimp pad thai, tom yum noodle soup, or drunken noodle chicken. Pad thai is not spicy; the other two have a bit of a bite, but it's not over powering to me. The noodles are rice noodles. There's also stuff with regular rice, but I like the noodle dishes best.
Just steer clear of things made with coconut milk, such as mussman curries.

"Straw Dogs" was a Sam Peckinpah movie. I don't think I've seen one since. "Clockwork Orange" was Stanley Kubrick and it was also super-violent, but it didn't bother me as much - I thought it was all about its own violence and was therefore rather stupid and tiresome. By contrast, "Straw Dogs" was upsetting because it actually had what started out as a somewhat normal story, then turned into something else entirely through a process that seemed all too plausible. Shudder.
After all that, we watched "Truly, Madly, Deeply" instead - it turned out to be one of those terribly understated BBC films that took a while to get into, but was quite good in the end.
The CPBBofC (CrockPot Bourbon Breast of Chicken) was, as always, wonderful.
