Because I remember once, when I was just starting out on the diet, I went and ate some candy. Then it occured to me, that the first ingredient may have been Corn syrup.
Can anyone here tolerate that? Or is that a huge ibs trigger, and I just somehow managed to get away with it. I'm really hoping I can tolerate it.
-Thanks.

I can tolerate it but some others can not. I am pretty sure that is a trigger food on Heather's diet. Hopefully you can tolerate it as well.

it's one of those things that some people can handle, and some people can't. corn syrup isn't a problem as much as hfcs. it's also a question of how much - if it's low on the list of ingredients of a food, i'm fine, but i try to steer clear of too much. some people have no problems with it, some can't handle even a tiny bit.

The key ingredient that's a potential trigger is the fructose. HFCS is problematic for a good number of IBSers, and it's not exactly healthy for the rest of the planet, either. Plain ol' corn syrup, however, is perfectly safe.

That said, I'm fine with both of them - even HFCS doesn't bother me. It's one of those things you just have to try to find out.

anything you eat right now that contains HFCS can be replaced w/a natural or organic version thats free of that stuff. it does say on one of heathers sheets/info pages that HFCS and other artificial sugars/flavors are triggers and should be avoided. while you may be fine w/it, if thats the only potentially bad thing in your diet, it may prevent you from healing to your fullest.

I can tolerate it in small amounts -- but not anything more. Some people can't tolerate it at all. Others are fine with it totally. You may need to experiment.
