Hi Sensational,
You are under a misconception that we don't have "as many fruit and veggies as other people." We DO! It's IMPERATIVE! We just eat it a little differently than "other people." We pulverize it and cook it until it's easily digestible, that's all. We've discussed this ad nauseum in these boards.
This program is very healthy, so you should stop worrying; after all, it's that stress that got ya here in the first place, am I right?
I did the program religiously for 3 years before I finally got stable. I ate more vegetable soup and fruit smoothies than I EVER have -- and enjoyed them even more -- and, by the way, stayed healthy.
So no more worrying, okay? Get out that blender and soup kettle!

There are TONS of fruits & veggies on this diet. PLEASE reread the guidelines.
Like Bev said -- become best friends with your food processor! Soups, smoothies, pureed veggie sauces/creations, etc. abound!

I agree with Bevrs and Wind, but also, if you're worried about your cholesterol specifically, it's my understanding that soluble fiber is highly recommended for lowering cholesterol. It acts to sweep the cholesterol out of your system.

If you're really concerned with cholesterol, consider taking flaxseed oil capsules which you can find at a good health food store. If you do a search in this board, you'll find a lot of posts about them.

Sensational. Cholesterol comes from eggs, beef, chicken, etc and your grandfather (according to the commercial) & it's true. This diet is low in eggs, beef, pork etc. Chicken ok but we don't eat a lot of it. fish, ok too. Bette

Within the first 3 months that I was on this diet (very strict) I dropped my cholesterol 60 points! My doc couldn't wait until I got back in her office so she could find out what I did different. I can't take any of the cholesterol meds without severe "D" as a side effect. Eat all the veggies and fruits you can stomach, cooked soft or mashed and stay away from the red meat, dairy, egg yolks, etc. that Heather recommends. Good health to you!

When I first got my diet going in the right direction, I found that I felt less tired, and less sedate. I felt better and I have been trying follow the guidelines suggested here by Heather. I have a medical appoint next month and hopefully I will find that my cholesterol is much lower.
Before getting the connection in my diet, I felt like it was hard to move around, and hard to breath and a tighness in my shoulders and chest. None of these were actually serious, but I felt that maybe with the problems I have then it was probably because of the high cholesterol that I had for many years now, with out remedy. My Dr's had also tried the lowering meds but they also caused me more problems.
I recall the first day that I sat and ate nearly a ton of frosted cheerios. If you read the box, which I just happened to, you will find that they are soluble fiber. So suddenly I was a little kid again eating my cheerios.
Also my Dr had recommended that I increase my fiber both for IBS and for the cholesterol. Since I had a mild heart attack in 1999, I was very willing to do anything to get healthier. My first week I ate cheerios and white bread. For the first week in 7 years, I was feeling better, and knew I had turned a corner. Oh I still have problems but I am working on it.
Please stay strong and positive,

Are you able to take flaxseed oil? I am afraid of anything that says oil.
How about omega 3 oils? I thought I read that that is good for you, too?

Do a search for both; you'll find lotsa good posts about them in here. We talked about this quite a bit.
Flaxseed oil contains essential Omega oil, very good for the heart and cholesterol. But it is an oil, regardless. The capsules worked best for me.
