There's another place, it looks like a standard pizza place but they have several good soy cheese and no cheese pizzas on 99th and bway - I think. I don't go anymore bc I've been avoiding wheat. If anyone in nyc wants more specifics let me know and I'll get the name and right address. -Dan

So those of you who eat there will have to share if they are any good.... Then those who live in other big cities may have hope.

Guess you haven't had that bagel yet, huh? I don't know, Dan....it's hard to ignore the antibodies. Even if your doctor tells you to try it. I always wonder if I am sabotoging myself and eliminating any chance of feeling better by eating wheat....or any other gluten product.

You're doctor said it was okay to eat it though, right?

After reading their menu, it would seem like you could readily
make one on your own by just going out to Trader Joe's or
Whole foods, and getting a good brand of soy or rice mozzarel-
la. Although, since Snorkie is such a big pizza hound, I would
think she would have thought of that and tried it already.

I have tried making pizza at home a couple of times, but I haven't lit upon the right version yet. However, I've been thinking of trying again! I also have a quick-n-easy pizza casserole recipe that could be adapted with the right soy cheese and ground turkey (or venison if you can tolerate it). I'll post the recipe over on the recipe board in the next couple of days.

while soy cheese sure isn't dairy cheese, this is a tasty slice of pizza. the place is adorable (so are the boys who work there!), and you can make your own slice to order. i'm having an herb crust (the others are whole grain) w/ marinara, soy mozzarella, mushrooms, & basil. a bit expensive, but yummy and good.

shell, thank you so much!

Hi,
Well no bagels yet. I just don't feel well enough to add another variable into the mix. Hopefully soon...Dan

although I have'nt even had a slice since last Jan. when I
came down with this bad IBS. I'm amazed I've resisted all
temptations! Amazingly, I'm feeling relatively stable these
days. This first week back at school, even with it being
super busy, I've had a great week. I'm not even farting in
class , still burping, but that's nothing. As far as
the right soy or rice cheese goes, I'll bet it's only
available at TJ's or Whole Foods. Also, it just so happens
that my neighbor across the street is going to give me
some venison from the deer he bagged, it may even be to-
morrow. I'll be looking foward to the recipe, I haven't
checked that board yet. Btw, do you prefer Chicago or
New York style pizza, or is that a stupid question<laugh>?
You are an Illinois native, correct? -Bob

Hi Jaime, Wow, really, it's that good! Did you ask them what
brand of soy mozzarella? Would they tell you? Yeah, that is
pricey! But that's New York for ya, everything's pricey
especially the taxes! I don't miss them at all. Btw, You have
a cute kitty(or is it kitties?). -Bob

Nope, I'm a Michigan native. Give me Meijer's and Vernor's (okay, no Vernor's with IBS), and I'm happy.
I tend to like thinner crust.

Can't even find the right cheese at Whole Foods all the time. The last time I was in the one in Madison, all they had was almond cheese. I tried the cheddar last night. Strangely, it tastes like nuts to me. I bought the almond mozarella at the same time. I'll still try it, but I'm not expecting much.

I went last night with a friend who also has ibs, and we PIGGED OUT. Thin, crispy crust (just how we like it in nyc), and the soy cheese was fanstastic. They also have rice cheese, which maybe I'll try next time. I took two gasx capsules with the meal because soy sometimes makes me feel gassy, and I was fine the whole night. I will definitely go back!
