Hi everybody. Some background info.

Im 22, been having symptoms for about 3 months. Alternating C and D and pain. Doctor prescribed Zelnorm and I took it without doing any research. Lets just say i've been having extremely extremely watery BMs for the past 4 hours or so.

I do not plan to keep taking this pill, but id like to know if I can take 2 immodium AD to prevent the current problem. I don't know how long the zelnorm stays in the system but I don't want some sort of combined side effects.

Thanks

Zelnorm is only for totally C people! I was prescribed it without any questions and I am IBS-A and it sent me into a really awful D period followed by total mayhem. That was when I found this site. Anyway, yes take some immodium for now but with Alternating IBS it is best to afterward take nothing for C or D.

I agree with Little Mini!!

Me and Linz talked about this before. It says right on the stupid commercial that if you have EVER IN YOUR LIFE had diarrhea to NEVER take Zelnorm!!!

Why do doctor's still prescribe it for A's?? I don't understand this??!! Definitely do not take anymore of that mess!!! It will give you bad, bad DDDDDDDD if you're not majorly CCCCCCC!!!!!!

Hi Stockanalyst, I hope you're not a guy, as you've already
realized you're in deep do do. Like a pharmacist once told
me, I hate to tell you this, but it takes Zelnorm three
times the length of time you've been taking it to get out
of your system. Yes, take the immodium, that will help.
.I guess you've realized don't take any more zelnorm. -Bob

How long did it take you to recoup completely from the Zelnorm?

Bob,
I am in fact a guy. I noticed on a website that it wasn't for men, so thats another reason i didn't take any more.

Im feeling ok right now, and hopefully I'll be ok.

Maybe 6-8 weeks at most I think. I started Heather's diet at that time.

I feel Zelnorm will be another of those drugs with a big law sute against it soon.
New warnings about lowering blood flow to the intestines are out. And Europe just denied its sale. Though there is an apeal.

"The drug's new label also will caution about cases of reduced blood flow to the intestines, or ischemia, in patients who took Zelnorm, the Food and Drug Administration said." web page

Can't find the artical on the denial of sale again.

Hey Stock,
Sorry to hear about your Zelnorm problems. I'm a C & when I first started having problems w/ my IBS I couldn't go for like a week, then the GI put me on Zelnorm. Within 15mins of taking it I had D. It's pretty harsh, I was on it for 2 weeks, that was a very long 2 weeks. You will be ok, it will just take some time to get out of our system, hang in there buddy!
