Hi
Has or IS anyone currently combining their eating for IBS with the Weightwatchers plan? Ive staretd this week and have stuck to it reliously AND excercised (thats a biggie for me!) I know I shouldn't weigh myself till the 7 days it is up but after 4 days I did this morning and have stayed the same!! (I know be patient) but I gues just wanted to see if anyoe else had been successful doing this plan?
Thanks ('',)

Gold, do a search for weightwatchers, some people on the boards have been successful with it, I think Bevrs is on it or starting soon but Alicia (HanSolo)found it very difficult to keep the fiber up and points down. It's been discussed a good bit so do a search on all forums with date range of "All posts" and you should find all the info there

I reached my goal weight well before my IBS flared, but I still follow WW. I have maintained a 33 loss for over 2 years now, with 1 of those years being a bad IBS year.

Side note: I follow the points/flex system. I'm not too familiar with the Core plan.

I know WW does not work for everyone, and you will read a number of bad reports from users here. However, it does work for a lot of others, or they wouldn't still be around.

If you read a previous thread, you'll learn you will need to tweak things for IBS, but it's very doable.

Good luck!

I too am TRYING to follow both WWers and Eating For IBS. I lost 44 pounds on WWers 2.5 years ago. We then moved & I got pg again, ended up with surgery, IBS flares, etc... I'm FINALLY re-dedicating myself to getting this weight back off. I personally LOVE WWers.
It has been a bit difficult to follow it and eat low-point but IBS friendly. My usual low-point snacks are mostly dairy or have dairy in them: cheese sticks, popcorn, pudding cups... When I lost weight on WWers I limited my rice, which now I'm encouraged to eat. It's weird for me, plus it's a rather high point food as well. I'd only eat white wheat or whole wheat breads, now those are out and the french bread is twice the number of points, so it's a challenge to follow both, but I'm determined.

I follow the old POINTS plan, I'm not too fond on the core plan and I prefer a set daily point goal vs. all this banking and such. I guess one gets used to what they first learned and especially when it works, it's hard to change.

Best of luck to you, I think we can do it - it won't be as easy though.

I don't want to speak for Bevrs but I do know she started not too long ago. Perhaps you two could cheer each other on!

She cheered me on while I was learning to knit...and she still cheers me on now. Bevrs is an aweseome person to have on your side!

You're a little love, you know that?!

Yes, I joined WW, and I posted a response to Gold's duplicative post in the Fitness Board; in fact, I posted TWO responses. (Gold, Heather has requested that we do not have duplicative threads; once is enough.) Thread in Fitness Board

Rachel, I'm so glad I got to meet you. You're the BEST! {{{{{{BIG HUG!}}}}}}

I am new to the board and have been down 3 Christmas years in a row. I think I have finally found the answer. this site! I have been following the IBS diet with cookbook in hand and lost 15 lbs. I am ready to lose weight and waiting for ww to start in our community. It will be within the next few week. I realize it will be a challenge but as worth it as following my IBS diet. I am not stabilized yet but at least off the meds the Dr. gave me. Thanks to all of you for your help. Cyndi

Hi Cyde, and WELCOME to the Boards!

Good for you, joining WW! Since there's no WW near you, check out the WW online program. It's AWESOME! You can record your weight every week and track your points daily. You can find lotsa super recipes and calculate points for recipes you already have. There's a support board as well, with great folks there too!

Check it out: web page One thing, though, that you should know: stay clear of all Weight Watchers processed foods! Don't even LOOK at the candies, frozen meals and desserts! They're FULL of all kinds of evil IBS triggers: High Fructose Corn Syrup, Maltitol Syrup, artificial sweeteners, and Heaven-Forbid DAIRY! I got very sick when I first started on WW, doubled over in pain, with cramps, "D", nausea -- the works! Now I know better. I make all my own meals, using WW recipes, and substituting soy for all the dairy. And obviously I do not put HFCS, Maltitol or artificial sweeteners in any of my recipes. They're all delicious and easy to digest. I got this advice from folks on the WW support board who also have IBS. It IS do-able, you just have to work at it.

Good luck -- and welcome!

Bev
