i never know what to do when my body gets like that! most times i eat a little less over a few days and it seems to level out. but its never solved.

yah about the fiber blend--a lady at the store i bought it at said having a SF/IF mix was better then just an SF blend. but i think she was referring to the other fiber blend by renewLIFE. that stuff had the same as this stuff + other tummy soothing herbs [marshmellow root, slippery elm bark..] perhaps i will try that another time. for now i decided to take the psyllium again.

i live w/my bf probably more west of you..by skokie and morton grove if you know that area.

i wished i couldve been posting more around the holidays but i was just so busy!! i was going here and there soo many times--im so glad its over im gonna try to post a little more or at least read some more posts. i like visiting on here and always forget to in my little spare time. take care beth! good talking to you

I wouldn't knock it until you try it. We all have to remember to be objective about what we read and be open minded about solutions for our problems. For example, not everyone can tolerate acacia, yet it is one of the things suggested on these boards.

I've seen Augie posting on here for months looking for answers, obviously the Eating for IBS diet isn't working for her. I feel terrible every time I see her messages because no matter how hard she tries she isn't relieved of her pain. I think it's great that people can come onto these message boards and bounce ideas off each other, because we all know our family doctors and specialists are not a lot of help. I am also much more willing to take on a plan that has future goals of allowing me to eat what I want without fear and not having to eat like a rabbit for the rest of my life.

You say in your opinion the 1/2 SF is safer, but have you tried eating more IF? I was skeptical too at first but was very happy to see how well they agreed with me. I think sometimes we become so afraid of upsetting our stomach that we baby it too much and don't provide it with what it needs to function properly. I would also like to point out that I was not trying to combine the two plans, I was just providing different information. This may not have occured to you but the colon is muscle, and we all know that any muscle that isn't properly exercised will hurt when used past its capacity. In effect the cleanse was helping to strengthen the colon so it was strong enough to work on it's own.

FYI - after too many days of holiday celebrations, I fell into the deep fatique that always follows a poor diet, and all it took was one meal that followed my naturopath's suggestions to give me back my energy and flat tummy.

When it comes down to it we're all on here to help ourselves and each other. I've spent over $200 on appointments with the naturopath plus the cost of supplements and groceries, and I thought I would do everyone a favour by posting the information I paid dearly for so they could see for themselves what their other options might be. No matter what we are all eating for IBS, however we choose, it doesn't mean we that we have to succumb to a diet of white bread and applesauce for the rest of our lives. I say this with no disrespect for Heather, she has done amazing work to help so many people, but there are usually more than one way to solve a problem and we shouldn't be so quick to reject an alternate solution.

The digestive enzymes I take are Jamieson brand. I take at least one at breakfast to control the morning bloating, and up to three at a time if I'm eating something that isn't good for me.

I am not taking the CleanseMore on a regular basis, even during the cleanse I was only taking one pill every other day or so (it recommends up to two a day). That pill isn't really needed if you're following a high fiber diet. I found there were way less side effects caused by the dairy when I took one afterwards. I would not have been able to enjoy the holidays at all if it weren't for these two supplements. She also said that in the long run I will not require the enzymes and stuff if I continue to follow the general diet plan.

I'm sorry if I offended you. That was not my intention and I hoped I had made that clear in my closing paragraph. I have no problem with alternate approaches and new ideas. My concern was that, since there are people on the Boards who are new to Heather's diet, it was important to point out that your approach contradicted Heather's in some important areas.

I have felt for a while that the Diet Board seems to moving away from being a support group for Heather's Diet and more toward being a general IBS support Board. Frankly, I've been uncomfortable with that move and have tried to provide a counterweight. Perhaps it's time for me to stop swimming against the tide.

I'm glad you've found help from your naturopath and hope your generosity in sharing what you've learned helps others who are still struggling, especially those who, like Augie, have been trying for so long.

I've become the poster child for being an Eating for IBS disaster case! That stinks! I'm sorry if my posts bring people down....I wish I could give better reports, believe me!

Sorry if my ongoing failure with the diet is causing others to get down. I don't want to quit posting...but I can't make my body cooperate and get better.

I can't find these anywhere. What is the name. They are made by Jamiesom, but is that the entire name?

Did she say you will eventually be able to come off the Cleansemore too? Because that one is the kind you become dependent on over time.

Thanks for thinking of me.

I just buy them at any drugstore. That may just be Canadian brand. Look at other brands and compare what they have in them. This brand has papain and bromelain (protein digestion), lipase (fat digestion), amylase (carbohydrate and starch digestion), lactase (dairy digestion) and cellulase (fiber digestion). If you are unsure of a brand check to see how many different types of macromolecules it digests because some don't cover all the ones I listed above.

I'm already off the cleansemore. Now I just keep it on hand for a jumpstart when things seem to stop working on their own, then I'll be good again for awhile, especially if I watch what I eat and keep taking the magnesium supplement.
