What brand/amount of flax you take...and only after some SF? And how much Triphala do you take?

I'm still taking 4000mg of triphala in capsules and one T of Nutures Life flax powder....but it isn't helping.

What SFS do you take? Acacia? How much?

Quote:

Eat the soluble fiber, then as much fiber as you dare

Did you mean SF food or a supplement?

How much bourbon do you drink? What is bourbon anyhow?

Is a 30 minute walk a day enough excercise?

Thanks Boo! sorry, so many quesstions! I'm just trying to get a hold of this attack soon!

Beth, That should be plenty of triphalla, but you may take more flaxseed. I take 3 rounded T of Bob's Red Mill ground flaxseed meal, then be sure you drink enough liquid. 30 minutes of exercise is good, get more if you can. Bourbon is whiskey. Bev drinks Jack Daniels bourbon and I have Walker's Deluxe. Drink only 1 T. with water. It relaxes your abdomen when it is all uptight. I take 1000-2000 mg. triphalla. I should have said eat IF after you eat the SF. (fruits, veg, etc.) I take 2 T of acacia a day. Make it in the AM and drink all day. I drink the peppermint and fennel tea, too. Peppermint causes GERD, which I control with Pepcid and 1/2 Tum tablet. Very complicated isn't it? Just try different amounts and things and see what works. I'm getting away with that because the Donnatol stops the pain from the spasms. Hope this helps. Ask all the questions you like. I don't explain things well. xo Bette

I don't how it works for others but when I am severly constipated, I will cramp and the pain will be awful. When I poo...the cramps and pain go away.

Once when I had a lower GI, the tech actually showed me my intestines and how the poo travels through your intestines to your sigmoid and then out. I swear there are times that I can feel "stuff" traveling as I have a cramp out of nowhere and then soon thereafter need to "go". Then the cramps disappear.

Hi AC, Thanks again for the get well card! Your advice here
is sound. I was having cramps in the old sigmoid colon. At
dinner, I had a good size bowl of TJ's sweet potato soup
and a couple of cups of good hot tea. Then a while after
dinner I had a reasonable BM, and the cramps were gone.
Say, I'll still be down here till Jan.7th. Would you be
interested in a Chicago area get-together? I would've
called earlier but I stupidly forgot to bring your real
name and address with me. I also left little bear's at
home. I do know her real name and that she lives in
Geneva which isn't too far. Maybe Beth, and Ginger might
be interested too. I mentioned the possibility to Beth
in an email last night. I'm sure she's reading this right
now. She had bugged me about not posting. You see Beth,I
now have posted , even using my sister's laptop.
My sister's address is 4231 N.Leavitt St. It's about two
blocks from the corner of Lincoln Ave. and Irving Park Rd.
The phone no. is 773-348-0905. My sister has two vehicles,
and my Dad could drive me to wherever the best meeting
place would be. I may even be able to just take the L.

How do you fit in all that flax? new

I add one T to breakfast cereal and it tastes very flaxy! Can't imagine adding more to it! What is a safe way to take your flax, since it does contain IF and also fat?

When do you take Donnatol? Morning and night? Everyday? I thought you could only take that one at night since it causes such drowsiness, doesn't it?

Beth, 3 T doesn't seem like too much mixed with rice milk in the AM. I think it would help you, even if it has fat. I eat very low fat the rest of the day. Take 2 Donnatol before bed. I've had cancer and other problems so long, I just throw the medicine down (flax, fiber, pills, whatever) without thinking too much about it. I know it's hard to be brave when you expect pain from everything. By the way don't become an alcoholic on my advice. Meant to say I only take that when I have that tied up in a knot, swallowed a basketball feeling. LOL Keep trying. xo B

Boo, when do you take your flax? After you eat something in the morning for breakfast?

If it isn't too much trouble, do you think you could post a sample day of how you take your supplements and what you eat before or after as meals/snacks? If you want, you can email me...my email address is in my profile.

Thank you so much for your patience. I hope to be where you are so badly.

Thanks Ruchie! Poor kitty is doped up on anti-histamines right now because he's licking his back so much that it's bleeding. He's not the brightest cat, but he does love to hug people....

Hi Bob--

Jeez, I used to live about a half a mile from your sister's place, and walk past it on the way to the library every week! Now I'm a 45 minute drive away. I'll have to ponder on where a good place to meet in that 'hood is: Resi's Bierstube is delicious but about the least IBS-friendly place there is.....

Hi AC, We don't have to meet in my nbhd. I'm sure I could
get my Dad to drive me or take the L or buses. Where do you
work? Maybe it may be more convenient to meet after you get
out of work. I have some some medical tests at Northwestern'
s Med Center on St. Clair st. thursday and friday, and I'll
be flying out of O'Hare saturday aft. around 2pm. I'll get
ahold of Beth to see if she can make it too. -Bob
