What probiotic do you use? If you take Primal Defense (this has been recommended to me), do you use the powder or capsule? How many do u take a day? How long did it take you to notice a difference? Did you feel sick when you started taking them? Worth it?
Thanks so much. I'm considering trying one after having D and a yeast infection for antibiotics.
Thanks!!

Was I the one who recommended this to you?? I take Primal Defense.....
I take the capsules. I started out taking one a day for a month and then I increased it every couple of weeks by one. It's very powerful stuff and if you take too much of it you will detox fast! Speaking from personal experience. I'm IBS-D and I took 6 one day and got HORRIBLE D!!! But, I only take 3 right now. I plan on getting up to 4 but you won't notice a difference for at least a month. It took me 2 months, but I'm going extra slow because of my last experience with it, two years ago. I cannot take more than 4 a day.
No, I didn't feel sick at all when I first started taking it. Not like I did with all of the other ones I tried. I know it looks scary because the capsules are black but that's just the barley grass and stuff.....It starts to upset my stomach if I take 3 at one time. 2, I'm okay with and I believe it is TOTALLY worth EVERY PENNY! to me, anyway. This probiotic doesn't work for everyone, I've heard. But, I'm pretty happy with it.
Culturelle works pretty good too! I used to take that and thought about adding it back in since primal doesn't have that Lactobacillus GG strain.
Good Luck!! Michelle

I use Primal Defense and I take 4-8 a day. I started with 1 a day for a week, then increased to 2, then 4, 6, then 8. After I got to 6-8 a day, it took probably 2 months for me to see/feel a difference. It did not make me sick when I started using it. The key, as Michelle said, is start slowly. I've been at 6-8 capsules per day for a few months now, so I'm starting to decrease to 4, then I'll see how I do with 3. I think it's worth it. Good luck with it.

Hi Amber,
I'm sorry to hear about your YI, those are the pits. I had recurrent infections for a while after going through a round of antibiotics. The only way I got it all cleared up was by taking Diflucan. If you haven't already tried it, I highly suggest you do so.
Probiotics can help clear up the infection and keep it from coming back. When I was clearing up my YI, I took Primadophilus 3x daily. For aiding my digestive system, I currently take Flora-Q, per my GI's recommendation, at one capsule daily at bedtime. I take it at bedtime because when I first began it caused an increase in gas, which I'd rather have at night than during the day at work. I am doing very well on Flora-Q and besides the inital gas, which subsided after a week or so, I have had no other unpleasant side effects. It took about 3 weeks to really see improvements.
I tried Primal Defense a few months ago and it made me very sick. I am IBS-D, so I don't know if that had something to do with my adverse reaction. I tried working up to 2 pills daily and experienced a dramatic increase in my IBS symptoms. I stopped taking it after about two weeks because I just couldn't stand the side effects anymore and it didn't seem to be helping me.
But, you must keep in mind, that our bodies are all different and what may work wonders for one person, may not for another. I suggest you try Primal Defense and see if it works. Many people have had success with it. If not, try something new. Yes, trial and error is frustrating, but hang in there! You'll find soemthing that works!

I'm a C. I use Jarrodophilus EPS once a day on an empty stomach. I've been using it for over a year and feel like it helps a great deal.
