Here in Atlanta HoneyBaked Ham is a store that sells the best ham ever and we got a coupon for a free one. Anyone eat ham safely? I know it is on the trigger list but I can eat pork chops if they are grilled and lean. Thanks!

I can, but I am careful to get rid of the fat as much as I can. I've never had a problem w/ it. I'm an IBS-C. I notice that I seem to not have too many trigger foods. I'm very stable now. Maybe that's why I can eat it.

I can only if it is really lean and I eat some soluble fiber first. I actually ate some yesterday and was fine with it. I would think if you could eat pork chops then you might be able to do ham. But then again I can do ham and not pork chops so go figure?

I can even have a little red meat now and then, but ham absolutely KILLS me every single time. I wouldn't risk it. Sorry!

I do fine with ham, pork chops and even sometimes bacon, provided it's not really fatty.

-------------------- IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

As you can see from the variance of our responses, it will depend for you on what you eat with it and on how your tummy generally copes with triggers. You're right - it's defenetly a trigger - but still, all of us have certain foods that we cheat with and somehow shore up our bodies to do so if we find the food that's worth it - so if you really think it sounds good, I hope you find a way to have at least alittle bit! But you'll have to use your own judgement...

I can have a little ham but if I eat anything beef related it's bad bad bad! I'll definitely be sneaking some on Christmas day

I could sneak a tiny bite of ham....but for sure no matter what I eat before it.... I will get bloated, my fingers will swell, & I will have stinky gas from it... not really worth it....
I stay CLEAR of beef!

Thanks everyone. I tried the pork chops before I knew they were a trigger food but since I have never had the ham the fear of an attack is greater than the want of a great tasty ham. One day when I consider myself more stable I will give it a try. Seems to me folks who are C can eat more than those of us who are D?

I'm not sure about that. Maybe it's just that for those of us who are D the consequences are more immediate!
